Alternator Gauge going to Zero

Hey all,
My 97 SE alternator gauge goes to zero every once in a while, and if you shut it off and re-start the Jeep, it comes back up and charges. Any idea's? Is the alternator going bad...........
Thanks in advance for you help!

Clean the corrosion off your terminals or get your alternator tested. Most places do it for free
