Alternator?????

Hi, new here today! Got a question: I have a 2000 Wrangler 4.0 and it wont start. Battery seems good just wont crank. Could this be the Alternator? I just had Circuit City install XM Radio and a new deck, could they have screwed something up? Thanks in advance for your help.

If it won't crank, try the battery. Alternator isn't the problem.

2007, 4 door, powered by a minivan engine, locked and riding on 35's.

If the battery is good, it could be the starter.

Hard to diagnose with just this info. What do you mean by battery seems good? Did it crank fine after the install for a couple of days or today?

Make sure you're battery cables are tight.
Have a voltmeter? Check your battery that way. Using the radio or interior lights is not a good way to diagnose the battery.

Fully charge the battery, then perform a parasitic draw test to see how many amps are draining your system. Pull individual fuses until the draw goes away. Using your factory service manual check to see if the XM system was tapped into that circuit.

Take the battery out and take it to local auto parts store, ask them to put it on the charger, they can test it as well. You can also bring the alternator into the store and they can test it. (I know auto zone does it for sure)
