Alternatives to Full Steel Doors?

I have factory full steel doors but It's a real drawback in the summer when I'm traveling. I either have to leave them at home and hope for good weather or find a place to put them once I get where I'm going.

As far as I can tell, my options are to buy a set of full fabric doors to use in the summer so I can just throw them in the back or to buy half steel doors.

So my question is this: Has anyone ever used the Bestop sliding glass upper doors? How are they? Also, since I don't want to lay out the $1000 or so for new half doors and sliding glass upper halves, I'd think about selling my full steel doors after I buy the new sets to pay for them and make a few bucks.

Has anyone ever "downgraded" from full steel doors? By the way, no hardtop, just soft. Am I crazy?

lots of people have traded full doors for half doors.
Heck i'm hoping to find someone local that will trade my half doors for fulls.

I have sliders on my YJ. I only use them for winter months. Summer I use the hard half doors.

I don't really like the sliders that much as they only open about 7-8".

I would keep the full steel doors

Can anyone who has the Full cloth doors with zip open windows doors give a quick review on them? I am thinking of picking up a pair for the summer but want to know what people think of them. I looked at the reviews but the only thing I really found was that they can be noisy at highway speeds.

Thanks

I had half-doors on my YJ and thought they were lame. Get soft doors and keep the full

Been running soft doors for the winter and rain for the last 2 years... Hard doors have been sitting in a garage ever since. IMO you cant go wrong. find a used set for like 150 and you are golden

I've got these, http://www.bestop.com/product_detail.php?id=60&img=37 bestop full soft doors on my YJ.
here's a pic with them on the jeep, with the upper part removed,
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/1/web/2245000-2245999/2245174_6_full.jpg
they work prety well, and are definatly easier to put on/remove than the full steel doors. also, if you seperate the uppers from the lower part, all 4 pieces fit nicely behind the rear seat.

however, there are a few things I've noticed;
the top of the doors sometimes "blow out", I notice it most when passing oncoming large vehicles, semi's, straight trucks, and some vans, etc..., on two lane roads.
I think it's because of the "blowing out", but I ocasionally have to hold the doors open, and pull on the top edge to bend them back in to keep the seal at the top tight against the soft top.
also, my soft doors have some age on them, and if I don't keep the latch lubricated, it will sometimes stick, and be a pain to open, close.

you could do the warrior half doors with soft uppers. That's what I run in the summer and offroad. Full doors for the winder and winter wheeling. Much less expensive than replacing a full door.
I was going to go with the full soft doors, but I wanted a little more protection than just a piece of cloth. I bought my uppers off of ebay.

Why not keep the hard doors and get a car cover? I usually leave my doors off most of the summer but I purchased a cab cover that came with door flaps as well

My son ran soft doors with his hard top part of last year. That way he could pull the doors off easier when he wanted. The fit was pretty close.

He has two piece soft doors with the zipper, he can take them off and stack them up behind the seat.

I have half steel and still end up taking my doors all the way off in the summer. I plan on getting some lower softs next summer
I say keep the full steels and get some full softs for the summer.
Like you said you can just pop 'em off and throw 'em in the back

I've been looking at those doors for a while. I have a rear bumper from WP and it's pretty good quality. I was just concerned about the fit/seal with upper doors. Do yours totally close so you get zero water when it's raining really hard?

I thought about getting a cover but the real problem is while I'm driving. Let's say I leave my full doors in the garage and go to the beach/trail. When it starts raining while I'm out a cover doesn't really help. I don't mind a little water in there, but it's also my DD so I don't want it to smell like mildew all the time.
