Being mine wasn't broke, just pulled out, I placed a drop of silicon on the end to help hold in place, , ,time will tell if it works, so far so good. My problem was the vent door, like where the A/C would blow, not sure but I believe that these little devils are interconnected some way as a couple of them have to move to get the desired result like defrost or floor etc.

How do you find the other write ups with the fixes? Thanks for the help

I did a forum search to find the write ups, would do it now but have to get to work (yuc) Here is a brief run down.
ok, on the left side, in the middle of the dash center you will see three silver looking cans with linkages hooked to 'em. by moving the cab/defrost/vent etc selector these will move back and forth, now mine were too. The problem is (mine anyway) was this linkage connects to an "L" shaped plastic piece that is keyed and fits into each door that directs the air flow. This L shaped thingee either comes out of the slot or breaks, in my case the center door one came out. It is really tight under there for space, I pulled the bottom and top dash out and got some room to work, even dropped my windshield. any way I got lucky and a drop of glue and mine has been fine. I did a search on this and there a some good write-ups on the fixes. I think all the doors have to move somewhat to get the desired effect from the different vents. Sorry for my rambling,,, one other hint is those silver canisters will pull right off, kinda like a clip on coil wire set up. Hope this helps and contact me again if questions come up

Thanks for the fix.

Took about 10 Sec. to search for the answer to my problem on here. Took only 2 Sec. to fix it. Thanks again. This Forum is a real time saver.

Thanks!!

Thanks to all who responded with this problem. I was having the exact same problem on my 2005 Jeep Rubicon UL. This really saved me time and money by not having to take it to the dealer.

I have gotten underneath and moved the switches to all the different positions. All the arms are moving, and seemingly engaging the vacuum. When it switches to A/C or blowing in the face, it sounds like it is engaging, but the airflow remains on feet and defrost. Could it be that I have something inside that is preventing the damper from closing completely? Last summer, with the top off, I had some dirt daubers build a nest inside my middle vents. Is there a way to look inside the dampers and check for obstructions? Or is this something I need to let a mechanic do?

Even though the metal arms are moving the plastic keyed piece that is inserted into the door itself may be broke or pulled out just far enough so as not to move the door, these are kinda L shaped white plastic. I guess if you can get your hand there while working the selector (don't pinch your fingers) to feel it out.
Maybe a mirror place right and you can see what I'm talking about.

I don't know of anyway to see the doors unless your tear the whole thing apart.
Maybe rig up a small hose on a vacuum cleaner and see what you suck out or dislodge?

Found my problem. Had two broken platic pieces at the end of actuator arms on heater box. Arms move but don't rotate doors inside heater box. Havn't found anywhere to buy just the plastic pieces though. Going to try junk yard. Can adjust the doors with a flat head screwdriver for now.

Might try J-B supper stick stuff depending where there broke at. I got lucky a were just pulled out of the keyed socket.

I did see the part listed on the net someplace ? If I can find it again I'll post it.

Found out that one of the keyed pieces is broke today. I hope that you can find the part...I have been looking this evening and have not yet been able to find one. Also, any ideas on how to get the broken key out?

Try screwing in a screw and pulling like a nail. Maybe a sheet rock type screw.

I found the part I hope, I would call 'em first and make sure it's what you need.
The last two (6 & 7) on the list, here is the link.
