Align after lift?

I'm getting ready to put on a 2.5" rc lift, will I need to do an alignment after I'm done?

I would recommend doing a basic alignment yourself. If after that it drives well, you should be fine. You are not drastically changing your geometry.

Basic Jeep Front End Alignment

If the jeep is pulling, shaking or the tires are wearing incorrectly I would take it to a mechanic and put it on a machine. You do not want to go through a whole set of tires (over $1000) because you did not want to put out the money to align the jeep ($75). Also, it can be unsafe, if you have ever experienced a true death wobble.

Yes an alignment is required but not a "full" alignment. The only thing you'll need to adjust will be your toe-in setting.

However, you can easily and accurately do a toe-in at home with nothing more than a tape measure and a pair of 1" square aluminum (or steel) tubes.

I'm not sure what size tires you're running but 1/16 to 1/8" is fine for up to a 33" tire size. That means to rotate your tie rod until the front of your tires are between 1/16" and 1/8" closer in front than in the rear. The two photos below show a very easy way to accurately measure that by measuring at lines spaced apart the same as the diameter of your tires.

Doing it this way, with simple basic care on your part, produce results 100% as accurate for the toe-in setting as the fanciest alignment rack can produce. Literally.

I like your alignment machine i have been fumbling around with measuring from my tires on a matching tread and such... not that accurate. Your method looks bulletproof, cheap and realiable.

Additionally, you will want to make sure your axle is centered between the vehicle using your trackbar. In order to get this accurate you will have to purchase an adjustable trackbar. This really only effects the thrust of your vehicle and therefore will decrease the torque in your frame when you accelerate.

To me that seems like a time consuming way to do it.Taking the wheels off and stuff.Maybe I'm just overlooking something simple.

That method is nothing new that the Jeep community came up with...for the amount of accuracy you get out of pulling the wheels off, far out weighs the pita it is.

Yep, it must take all of 2-3 minutes to get the tires off.

Is there any way to adjust camber other than those adjustable upper ball joints?

No, that's it. Unless the axle is bent causing a bad camber angle, then the axle could be straightened.

Please excuse the newb question here, but I too plan on installing this lift, except with a 1.25" BL. To my understanding, BLs don't have any effect on aligment so I should just follow what has been mentioned in this thread, right?
