On my last two trips Iíve come in contact with rocks on my front drive shaft. Outside of swapping my Dana 44 for a HP 30, what do you guys think of adding an AEV/Nth front diff slider? Is it worth the money, will it protect the front yoke and drive shaft?

it will protect the yoke, not the drive shaft. i think it is a good investment if your out playing on the rocks. i run one on my 44 and i know its been used a time or two. it gives me just 'a little bit more piece of mind' knowing its got some protection.

That type of slider would definitely help protect the yoke end of the drive shaft, but there's still the majority of the front tubing exposed where you'll most likely hit it. I've ripped the spline boot off my front drive shaft twice along with a balancing weight. The slider really wouldn't have helped me in either of those situations. Time for something high pinion! :)
