I was talking to my wife the other day about this and she said "do what you want to with the Jeep". I was excited for a day or two and started thinking about it, but then decided against it. I'd be way too worried about wrecking the thing out on the trails. So instead, I'm thinking Spydertrax-Hi9's front and rear

If you do a search, there's been a few people that have messed with the Brute conversion. I don't know that any of them still post here, but there were a few that used to. That might be your best start for info.

"LCOG" isn't cheap and it certainly isn't easy. If you think so, you are doing it wrong. If you aren't willing to put in the effort, don't label your build "LCOG". You are just a cheap ******bag.

As awesome as it would be, I would never wheel it if I did the conversion. What I would like to do in the near future is the AEV highline fender kit with heat reduction hood, that is if I don't do tube fenders instead.

I'd love to go throught the build-up process over here but registering it would be difficult. My only option would be to import it as a fully assembled vehicle.

Unfortunately they're also introducing a law stating that cars over 5 years old can no longer be imported... so given they stopped TJ's in 2006, that means I've only got 3 years left to pull it off!

But wouldn't it still be a Jeep TJ? All that is really being done is changing some body panels.

Cutting the chassis in half is something that scares them a little bit.

And the other problem is that pick-ups can't really be registered to private individuals here... my friends that do have trucks have them registered as a company vehicle.

Over here Toyota sells this - which is really the closest production vehicle to a Brute, but I'm not allowed to register it in my own name.

Why the hell can't you own and drive a truck for personal reasons. Is it cause you live in towelhead territory

Yes

Trucks are considered commercial vehicles and therefore have to be owned by either businesses or people of local nationality.

I just make-do with my Half-cab TJ

And the Brute bed actually matches the cab better! My brother likes the LC70s with trays, but thinks they are overpriced...are they expensive over there like they are in Australia?

I thought wife beating was reserved for Pick up drivers in southern states? Complete with a pig tied down in the back and a piece of 2x4 for a front bumper.

Over here they just put benches in the back of the truck and use them to carry around the 4 wives and their sisters.

To be honest, none of the Toyota's are cheap here... Nobody buys a Toyota on price anymore. Quality, Reliability and Dependability, as well as bloody amazing Air Con units sell the brand and there are people more than happy to pay for it.

The only Toyota I think of as good value is the Land Cruiser 200 Series Standard Spec or "G" Spec at 140,000 Dhs. But then, that only seems cheap now because the full option car goes for 265,000 Dhs, or 360,000 Dhs for the Lexus variant!!

But at 140k you get the same body with a manual transmission and 6 cylinder gas engine from the FJ. ****ty cloth seats but custom upholstery isn't hard to do here. Planning on that as my daily car in 2009. Manual SUV's are hard to find, and Automatics bore me.
