Advice on 1st lift

I have a 2005 Unlimited and do LOTS of towing. I'd like to add a 1" suspension lift that will be good and stiff to help with the towing but won't require me to change any angles underneath. Nothing too serious. I don't want a body lift. What do you guys recommend?

The only 1" lift I know of would be spacers. That's a lot of work for an inch.I'd go with 2" lift or a BL.

Spacers or stiffer springs in the rear only. Sounds like your rear might be sagging when towing?

What about air bags? if it just causes you heart burn when towing they may be the way to go - that way your jeep will still ride normal when your not towing.

Good idea, forgot all about airbags. they work great for trucks/cars in towing, why not Jeeps?

there is no 1" lift that will work for you. Your best bet is a 2.5" OME lift with 933 TJ HD springs and 949 LJ rear springs. You'll need 3/4" spacers to sit level if you want to.

As for towing alone, see this: http://www.4x4xplor.com/airlift.html

There is the ACOS system, but that would get you a little more than 1".

I think I'll just go with stiffer springs for now to stop the sagging when I tow. Any recommendations on springs and shocks?
It's my daily driver so I want it to be reasonably decent to ride in...as much as a Jeep can be...

because you have an LJ, you already have the stiffest springs Jeep makes. there are no stiffer springs from the aftermarket unless you lift the Jeep.

Old Man Emu makes the only lift springs tailored to the LJ & extra weight.

Again, for no lift, this is as good as its going to get: http://www.4x4xplor.com/airlift.html

You shouldn't tow more than 3500lbs with an LJ. And even then you want trailer brakes. The LJ's brakes are barely up to stopped itself with stock pads and rotors.

I'm towing anywhere from 1000-3000 pounds depending on how loaded my trailer is. The thing is that I am towing it nearly every day during June, July, and August and have done that for 4 solid years so it's just worn the springs out. The Jeep doesn't handle very well with the sag I get when the trailer is maxed out so I'm figuring that if I can get rid of the sag, it should be a little better to drive when hooked up.

What if I put in 1.5" spacers? That would give me a little added height in the rear to compensate for sag until I decide on what spring/shock set to buy.

Airbags and/or one of these: http://www.equalizerhitch.com/. Use(d) them both. Both are great. The bags are the least expensive and would probably work really well for your application.
