tonight I removed the old gas tank. I really dislike those gas connections. out of 5, all came apart in my hands except 2. you would think they could make these little clasps out of a plastic that doesnt get brittle with age .

also the new tank straps dont seem to reach with the new tank. looks like a trip to the dealer tomorrow for another unplanned expense. While i am there I will pick up a set of exhaust manifold gaskets and new bolts.

if you look at the two tanks the pump and lines are completely different. the 03 uses a different fuel/vapor system than the Ram 1500 5.7L computer donor uses. It just so happens that DC changed the wrangler to the same fuel/vapor system as the Ram in 05.

sorry...OT all week and Xmas party tomorrow. I will get back on it saturday..

the plan, pull clutch pedal, pull dash, replace harness, maybe set motor in and tack mounts... the difficulty will be that I dont want to do the recommended 1" body lift so I am debating redrilling the motor mount down a half inch, hatcheting the hood or massaging the tunnel to fit. I have to see how it all shakes out....

i will go bigger if I break the d44 with alloy usa axles. the nth limits my choices on the rear. my first choice would be a currie built high pinion 9" with an arb. I may still do it, but I will hold off until the d44 lets go.... they are making a stinger for the rockjock or one of those special d60's I dont know. but if I do it I want the high pinion for my trouble...

Nth came out with a HP60 Stinger. There is an article in the Jan edition of 4 Wheeler Magazine. I think it is called "A killer stinger, for a Killer Bee." (or something along those lines)

I am having a custom built HP60 put in early next month. The shop is probably going to have to fab something to make it fit------ but they said that they can make it work.

But I think you should be fine with the 44, considering that the SRT-8 6.1L comes with a 44 in the rear. I doubt that your going to be hammering the hell out of it off road (or will you?). If not, you would probably be fine for a good while..... especially w/ the chromoly shafts.

can anyone give me a part number for this little plastic clip? it goes on the fitting for the line to pump and the fitting for lines from the tank to the lines down the driver side frame rail over the rear end. the the dealership parts guys cant seem to look anything up for me. Otherwise I am just going to thread a zip tie through where this clip went. all it does is keep the gas fitting together by filling a gap. the lines do all the seal function. anyway, I need to get 4 of these little clips to put the new tank in....
