well the Hemi fired to life this morning. the injectors was the issue. if you buy a junkyard motor, ask them to charge you an extra $20 to run some gas stabilizer through the motor before they pull it, would have saved me a lot of hassle replacing injectors, let alone the $400 to buy new ones.....my gauges arent working but i will tackle that later. I started running my exhaust pipes. I want to run true dual 2.5. it is a little bulky in the rear under the frame by the gas tank. I think I am going to build a heavy box skid plate around them, or maybe trim them different I dont know. I will also have to move the e-brake bracket over a few inches. all in all Im pretty happy with the way it is routing.

looks good...who mandrel bent your exhaust? Where did you get spun down converters in the exhaust? I design exhaust for a living and Im impressed with the bending skills from the pics you posted.

actually it is the Flowmaster U-Fit 2.5 " mandrel bent exhaust kit. The spun cats are the old ceramic style from Magnaflow. I got the kit and the cats from Jegs. I had to get the 2 bolt 2.5 diameter ball flange from Ebay so of course I am still waiting for that. I also still need to find a couple of flange sets so I can put a bolt together union behind the cats so it is not one big welded togther piece.

the motor is now running very well, no codes at all and all the guages work. I am finishing up my exhaust, just need to get hangers on and then finish the reassembly of the belly pan and rear drive shaft. i am the worst welder so i will be going back searching for all of the pfft's i hear along the pipes. I will wait until they get black marks so I can see them. I was able to twist the over the axle pipes and intertwine them a little to get more clearance and miss my e-brake cable, i also pushed the lower back pipe up and in, they are not directly over top each other which gives me an extra inch of clearance. I still want to do something more rigid there but it can wait. I really like the sound of the spiral baffles.....

dang

seems like it might have been easier to run the 2 headers into a Y pipe and 1 3 or 3.5" pipe out the back?

did two pipes because:

i wanted two pipes if possible
the emissions is two circuits and i couldnt get the cats next to the engine, by the time i ran them back to where i had room i might as well go all the way
did I mention I like two pipes?

hopefully I will be moving under hemi power by sunday

How did you get your gauges to work? We have an issue with the oil gauge, we have to start the motor, shut it off, and then restart it for the gauge to come on. The DRB (scan tool) does not communicate either. Do you have screem module (programmed key)?

the 5.7 uses the same single wire pci bus as the jeep, once i had the bus wire jumpered over and connected which i forgot, it worked just fine. i thought that the 6.1 uses a 2 wire system so i was wondering if you were able to get your jeep cluster to communicate

i do have the sentry key, i just unplugged the module at the key. it gives me a sentry key error but i will just take it to the dealer and get my key matched to the pcm. it is also a 1 wire pci bus so it should work just fine.

i have put about 10 miles on the tj. I am now getting a downstream O2 sensor code, both banks. best guess right now is the durango downstreams have a different resistance value than the 1500 Ram computer is expecting. i have one ram downstream sensor i will put in tomorrow. its too hot to mess with right now. oh and i washed off 3 months of oak tree litter, scraped off the "Sport" decals and put on my Hemi badges....

Congrats on getting it on the road! That's a major accomplishment!

I ran Magnaflow duals on a Mustang 5.0L back in the day. It sounded okay, but was a bit too "blatty" sounding for my tastes. No drone, though, so that was nice. If you want a muffler that truly muffles, I've had good luck with Dynomax Ultraflows. Nice tone, but mellow.

That was the only car I kept duals on, though. I'm a big proponent of replacing dual exhausts with singles for simplicity, better flow, and in some cases, weight. Done that on my Camaro, BMWs, my Bronco, my GMC, etc. over the years.

Best of luck!
Tommy
