AC Question/97 Wrangler

I have a 97' Wrangler Sport with an AC unit that has recently been on the fritz. It still produces cold air (or hot if I use the heater), the problem is it only blows air intermittently. It seems to randonly decide when it will produce airflow. I am trying to get a general idea if this might be something simple like a fan that needs to be replaced, or if I am in store for something more costly. It is not a problem this time of year, but I live in South Florida so when summer rolls around something will need to be done. Any thoughts are appreciated???

@002 Wranlger

Last year I took my Jeep into the dealers and had them look at it. It was doing the same thing. They said there was a part taken off and they replaced it. It worked a little better. You could play with it and get it to stay in one position. Now that it's hotttt again, it mostly wants to blow cold air thru the defrost vent and if it's not doing that, it blowing out buy the feet. Anyone have any ideas??? Thanks.

Does the fan do the same thing in other modes....while the heater is on...etc ?

I not sure if it does the same thing while using heat. Because I put it on defrost for heat anyway. All I know is it cannot make it blow in the same place. I move the air position switch to a setting and get something else or something new. My Jeep is haunted and I tired of driving a hot $30g Jeep.

When I can get it to work, I will run the jeep for a few minutes going down the road and set the fan to low and then set the air to regular air vent and let it set for a few seconds and then slowly move up to max cold air. Then set the fan to max. If it is not to hot out , it will work. Then most of the time if I am doing 70 plus on the freeway, it will cut out to defrost till I slow down.
