? About pin found while changing diff fluid

So I pulled the drain plug to drain the rear diff (d44 trac lok) and this pin came out with it. I really have no knowledge base when it comes to gears and what goes on behind the diff cover so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to what this came from and how to repair if possible. Thanks

It looks like a roll-pin. Have no clue where it would go

That is the roll pin for holding in the cross pin. You should definitely replace it.

It is item 23 in this diagram:

You should buy a new pin.

I would not drive it until you do replace it.
