98 Sport vs Sahara

Hey guys, I have a question for your jeep filled brains.

I'm looking at 97-99 jeeps and am wondering what the difference is between the sport and Sahara.

From my knowledge I realize sahara was the top of the line, and that the jeep mainly has to do with what options people went with. Are their any things included in the sahara standard which are not included in the sport models? Please explain.

Thanks everyone.

tow hooks, steps, wider flares and flares along body, green seats with map pockets on the back there are some more even minor stuff but I am tired and no neither come standard with dana 44,basically almost anything standard on a sahara is optional on a sport

Thanks man, if anyone else can think of a few things feel free to chirp in.

The sports and saharas come with the 6 cylinder right? Does this mean they both have AC?

The only thing that really matters is the D44 rear axle. My Sahara didnt have one, but my buddies sport did. They were optional on both. Im not sure about the AC, but the only TJ Ive ever seen without it was a 4cyl, but that doesnt mean 6cyl Jeeps were standard equipment.

The differences are strictly cosmetic, like a little more carpeting in some areas like going all the way up to the door sill instead of just in the footwell. Real luxury.

ha, no. I've had several jeeps, six and four cylinders, and none of them have had air conditioning. In my experience you're more likely to find a jeep without it really.

no a/c on my 97 sahara. i read the saharas came with "heavy duty wiring" but what that actually involves and whether it's a big deal i have no idea. i think auxiliary lights were also standard on the sahara...

not even cruise control was standard on sahara, mine has it,but my fathers dont.but who ever bought his ordered the tow package, but it dont have the dana 44,kinda weird, has the 3.73 gears,hd hitch and wiring, and the rest is cosmetic.the flares are an inch wider and an inch further down.only thing i really like is the seats, more comfortable than my 97's were, and the point that i dont have to worry about getting wax on my flares, they are painted the same color.
