98 grand cherokee dana 44 puting under a 98 wrangler tj

hello everyone

Wanted to see if anyone has done this or knows what modification i would have to do to the axle.

Here is what i want to do. 98 grand cherokee rear axle is a dana 44 with 3.73 gears, I have a 98 wrangler with a dana 35 with 2.73 gears. I want to put the gear end of the grand cherokee under the wrangler. Does anyone know id this is going to work. I can not find much information on this on the web and havent had much luck.

Has anyone done this?
I havent purchased the axle yet because i dont want to waste my money incase it doesnt work!!!!

Please let me know you advise

Thanks

The Aluminum Dana 44a under Grand Cherokees is as worthless as a Dana 35 and has fewer options for aftermarket upgrades like lockers. The D44a is easy to bend, and suffers from major problems with premature failure of the carrier bearings.

Are you sure you have 2.73 gears ? There is no info about your Jeep in your posting, or in your JeepForum Profile.

.

A recent Gallup public opinion poll shows the NRA, at 58% approval, has a higher approval rating than either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.

x2, it's not worth your time to swap in the D44a.
