It's all stock. I want to put a lift on it and was wondering what some of you might recomend as an "introductory" prospect. The current ride is pretty stiff and I wouldn't mind getting a little bit looser if I am explaining myself correctly. ANyway, any help would be appreciated..

IMO if your gonna lift it do it right. What i mean is figure out what you want out of your jeep. What are you going to be using you jeep for? How big of tires do you want to run?
Sit down and figure out what it is you want and then go from there. I got a 3"BL from a christmas gift one year and have run that ever since until now. I know i want at least 33" tires and maybe some day 35's so i am redoing my lift for a total of 4.5"'s. thats 1.25BL 3.25SL. the 1.25BL is to replace the 3"BL and also allow room for a TT when i get my SYE/CV in.
Dont jump into it w/o a plan and dont do it in stages or you will be spending more money than you want in the end. You can make a very nice competent rig and still use it as a DD. Many ppl here do.
And WELCOME to JF

A good starter lift is a budget boost.
I however would reccomend a 2.5" suspension lift from Rough Country. It's a good product for great price.

Your lift is dependent on tire size, what will you be running?

It seems the more I read the more i am leaning toward a long ARM lift kit. If I understand correctly I would benefit in the long run for both on and off road handling/riding characteristics..Does that make sense? or am I misunderstanding something?
Any input would be appreciated

Which is one of the other question the OP needs to answer - What is your budget?
So how about some more info....
1. Why do you want the lift?
2. What type of offroading do you want to do?
3. What size tires do you want?
4. What is you total budget for this?
5. Is your Jeep a daily driver or a weekend toy?

1) Without offending anyone, I like riging higher so I can see everyone on the road (sounds strange but true) and I would like start trailing according to a previous reply "Do it right firts? saves money in the long run"
2) Mild to Moderate offroading at this time which could change
3) 33" - 35" (have 31's now)
4) My budget is as big as I can convince my wife with "haha" but seriously at this time I have about 2200k
5) It is my DD and I would like to "play" with it on weekends
My first idea when I purchased the jeep was to go the 2.5" rough country suspension kit and spend some money on the interior/cosmetic because of some tears and other stuff. I don't want to spend money on a lift only to come back to it spending morein the near future. I guess going back to the "do it right the first time" reply has me overthinking this?

RC 3.25" lift with 1.25" BL will fit 33's or 35's nicely.I have that lift with 35's.If you like it higher, get a 4" lift and 31's.

Check your gears to see if they'll support the tire size you want. Otherwise, budget for regearing too.

Re-gearing will eat up at least half of your $2,200 budget .

IMO you shouldn't let the fear of gearing issues stop you from getting a lift you will be happy with. Don't skimp on one aspect just so you can cover more upgrades. Although gears are important (don't get me wrong), they are not always necessary right out of the gate. If you are looking for a moderately built rig, chances are you will not be running tires larger than 35's, at least in the near future. I have personal experience with 33's and 3.07's and that is bearable with the 4.0. My current rig started with 3.73's and I re-geared to 4.88's, and it was the best thing I ever did after the lift. My point being, you can drive without re-gearing right away. Gears should be high on the list of future upgrades regardless.
