'97 TJ rear floor metal drain plugs help

My '97 TJ has metal drain plugs in the rear passenger floor that were sealed in and painted over by the factory. I removed them using force and they are of course not re-useable.

Does anyone make a rubber replacement plug for these metal ones? Remember they are not round, they are oval making it a little harder to find something at the local hardware store.

Thanks!

let me know when you get an answer as I have been searching this issue ad-nausium for 2 days. Morris 4x4 in pompano, fl had them 2 months ago but now I don't see anywhere on their site.

those were not designed to be removed, that was done by the factory, you dont need plugs anyway

The rear plugs on a '97 as the OP is asking about are not drain plugs and they were not designed to be removed. Later model TJs have removable rear drain plugs.

You could always grab a hole saw and drill a round hole in the floor boards and then get a round drain plug to put in its place.

I just drilled a half inch hole in each. I dont even really to plug them ever so i never looked into that but im sure if you drill a standard size then someone will have a plug. Also id recommend painting the new hole where you see any shiny metal because uncovered metal will rust alot quicker than painted metal.

Because they are the only drain plug in the rear footwell of a '97 TJ as stated earlier.

I assumed they were available aftermarket in rubber, I was wrong.

when water is in that area, just pull the front floor board (rubber) plugs and drive around the water flows through an area and drains it all out through the front holes....works for me, i never thought about taking the metal painted ones out; didn't think i was suppose to!

Are those metal? If so no big find. If they are rubber then you found what I'm looking for.

Soft chewy plastic with a crunchy metal inside. Let me know when you get the big find. I searched for a long time and found crappola. hole is Oblong 1 1/8 x 1 3/4". Good luck.
