I just got back into jeeps and bought a 97 that was in somewhat rough condition. I'm tackling things as I can and I have now run across a problem I need some help with. The jeep currently has a belt on it that bypasses the ac compressor. It was sold as a non ac jeep. Not a factor really but I wanted to see if I could just throw a new belt in there and troubleshoot and possibly see if the air works. I bought what I believe to be the appropriate sized belt but there is no way this thing is going in there. Its just too small. Is there a difference if this is an aftermarket ac system? Would that require a different sized belt? I bought a 91" belt. 97 wrangler SE 4 cyl with power steering. Thanks and let me know if I left out pertinent info.
Even though its aftermarket it should be okay if you got a belt for a TJ with AC. Is the adjuster pulley adjusted way too far? Sounds like somebody has been in there jimmying things around so expect surprises. I wonder why they have the AC bypassed after going through all the trouble and expense of putting it in? Is everything there, or just the compressor?
Okay so 92.3" doesn't work either. It's routed the same as the diagram. Soo..... I guess I will take it to the auto parts store and just change belts till I find the right one. I just can't figure out why it would be an odd size.
