97-03 TJ 4.0 Jet Stage 1 or Stage 2 Chip

Can any one tell me if either of the Jet Stage 1 or Stage 2 Chip are worth the money. Or if there are better chips out there.
Thanks
JT

This comes up every few days. Unless you're taking your TJ to the quarter-mile dragstrips, you won't notice any improvement except at WOT and high RPMs. I bought one of those chips before I knew any better and returned it for a refund within a few days. In normal Jeep driving conditions, unless the Jeep is being raced out behind the high school, they don't do jack.

You're running 33" tires. If your axles haven't been regeared to a lower axle ratio more appropriate to those 33" tires, your Jeep will be a dog. Regearing your axles to a lower ratio will do more to restore/improve performance than anything else. 4.56 would be appropriate if you're running a 5 speed transmission, cost averages around $1200 total for a complete regearing.

Agree. In most applications, the Jet Chip doesn't do much. A programmer like a Hypertech gives better peformance, but they don't offer it for all years and the 4.0 just doesn't respond much to air/fuel/timing changes without going to a stroker kit.
