8000 mile road trip

I have 35,000 miles. I will do a synthetic oil change before I leave, and one halfway through. I know air pressure in tires, and I will grease it.
Anything major I should check?? It will be a three week road trip of 8,000 miles.
I have an auto. transmission. Diff fluid? transmission fluid?

Maybe the blinker fluid?

thanks
chris

Check your belt and be sure your tires will last another 8K.

i wouldnt bother replacing the motor oil unless you are pulling a trailer or really pouring the coals to it. i would just change it when i got back. I would suggest changing the transmission fluid before you go, and if you havent changed the diffs and transfercase recently (20,000) miles i would do that too.

I bought a roll of rescue tape

Welcome to Rescue Tape!

to keep from having to worry about the hoses

Will you be driving off the beaten track? if so make sure your battery is in good order and take a jump start pack just in case.

your most likely going to have to fill your tank a few times during the trip, make sure not to let the gas needle hit the big E while your driving

Change the tranny filter if you have not done yet. Flush the coolant and maybe swap out the plugs if they are the orignal.
Check tires rotate then air up, check spare.
I drove from the North VA to SE NM in late May and back in late June and did all the above and had zero problems.
I had 33" tires on my with 3.73 gears, I was able to get a set of 30" firestone at's for the road and wow they did great. I got around 15 to 16.5 mpg most of the way.
Was able to run most of the time with the AC off and windows cracked and back window rolled up. I wore ear plugs tho......
Hope this helps.

Drain auto tranny fluid and filter at 60K in maitnence manual is that still recommended here on JF

8000 hwy miles on synthetic oil shouldn't be a problem. I'd run the larger oil filter though. Although Probly not needed. The extra 1/2 qt of oil with the larger filter wouldn't hurt.

I'd like to see a used oil sample report after the trip.

^ i agree with them

Mainly because when i brought the jeep at the stealership he said to flush the trans every 30k and not to have them do it because a shop literally three blocks away did it for 40$ cheaper
