.75" spacers on back...need to put on 2" lift coils...need a good spring compressor?
So I worked on the rear end for about 1.5 hours today. No way in hell was I getting the springs (2" Ruty's Coils) out, much less putting them back in with a .75" spacer.
Am I missing something? I had the shocks undone, and the side of the axle jacked up (tires off of course). There was no way I was getting that sucker out. I went to Autozone to get a spring compressor and the onyl one they had was the one that has just one bolt that goes through the middle of the spring. Anyone know where I can get the one that is used in the famous REBB video with the "Balaniese" song at the end? It's uses 4 bolts on the outside of the spring. BTW....I'm all by myself on this.

Was your rear swaybar disconnected?

I found that unhooking the sway bar and track bar (at one end) made the job waaaayyyy easier and I did not need the compressor. Just did the rear for my RE 3.5 springs and did the same thing w/o a compressor. Although I did need it for the front, but just barely.

I did my RE 3.5 springs by myself...with no spring compressors, and without unhooking the track bar...
unhook the shocks and the swaybar links (or quick disconnects)... have the frame on stands with the axle hanging loose...and then use the jack to lift one side up (by jacking on the knuckle)...and you ought to be able to do 2.5" springs and the spacer with no problem... Greg

I agree...put a jack under the pumpkin to hold it up, then use another jack on the opposite side your working on to flex the axle a little more...I got my spacers and springs in WITHOUT disconnecting my track bar...front and rear.

does the sway bar simply unscrew and disconnect? Or do you have to pickle-fork it?

for an extra inch or more you can step on the side you're trying to push down.

I'm assuming you still have the stock links... takes a T-55 torx bit and a socket (maybe a 3/4"?)...just unbolt them from the brackets on the axle... Greg
