6B 5.9 Turbo diesel swap
is it possible?
i really want to do it. ill have alot of free time and some deep pockets. just wanted to know if it was even possible so i could consider it as an option instead of getting rid of my jeep now for a new one.

That motor will weigh way to much for a jeep (but i think it possibly fit). The libbys 2.8 would be a great swap of a wrangler.

that Cummins weighs probebly about 350-400 pounds. I dont think you'd want to be shoving a heavy cast Iron'd block into the front of a quarter ton Jeep

i understand the weight will change the dynamics of the way it handles and rock crawling etc. but im pretty much only gonna use it in a straight line to push the big tires haha.

I think the liberty's engine would be a better swap you'd probably have to get the entire wiring harness and computer to make it work though. I think with the cummins the weight is way too much (I believe over 400lbs) a better match would be the 4B engine as far as weight. but they are both tall engines so you'd have the oil pan sitting down too far or it would stick up out of the hood. Anything can be done, depending on how deep your pockets are but for a lot less money you could get a Golen stroker, get more horsepower, a bolt on install, and whet you saved on money would pay for a lot of gas! It would probably pass emissions if they check where you live.

i vote for getting a 5.7L Hemi and the G56 6speed manual and putting it in even though thats already ALOT of weight, the G56 tranny was built for Benz medium duty trucks, and its whats mated to the 5.7 in the Power Wagon.

I'm thinking with that much weight up front, you would probably want some leaf springs instead of coils.
Just about any engine will fit, hell there's a guy who stuffed a V-10 Viper motor in his TJ. It all depends on how deep your pockets are and how much you like metal work.

I agree with using the Liberty 2.8l CRD turbodiesel. There's a thread on another site with pics of the swap. It was a lot of fab work, especially with the CRD's gel filled engine mounts.
the trick is finding one that's totalled.
