thanks for the insight on the tunnel.

guys i need a few measurements. the paper that i had all the numbers on has 'disappeared.' i can get them again but not till i get under my buddies jeep.

i am looking for front to back axle center lines off the frame. meaning how far back from the front of the frame does the centerline of your front axle sit at stock and also with a 4" lift and 6". same for the back, but from the rear frame end.

i am going to bend the front coil over hoops tomorrow evening and begin mocking the front suspension.

hmmmm... raceline renegade 8 beadlocks and 40" creepys. finger on the trigger.

Is that a tire and wheel combo that you see listed locally for sale, or is that something you are thinking of buying? Gerald (used to be provelogear, now is savvy) can get them for you if you are looking new. Well... the rims anyway.

I'm jealous. But not as much as I might be otherwise

As for plowing, that is good to hear.

You can make a lot of money pushing snow if you know what you are doing. NoVanHunter made $1000 iirc in one week. He just paid $100 in diesel to his friend's dad to borrow the Kabota.

Lucky, are you actually reading this thread or just finding things to reply to about something mrblaine said? Go back and read post 117. The problem isn't strength, it's that the 241 is a very large transfer case, at least compared to the extremely compact Atlas. The Atlas is smaller even than the 231. Stuffing the 241 up where he wants it is going to be a major challenge that will require reshaping the tub, something that shouldn't happen with the Atlas.

Totally missed that, so disregard what I said. I just skimmed through that post last time I read it.

You sir remember some odd things. And yes i made that much but it was actually 2 days, and it was just doing driveways.

The majority of that money went to gas for the Jeep (about $900)

If I didn't have such a good memory, I would be in trouble. I suck at paying attention (as seen above), so I have to make good use of what I do pay attention to.

Anyway:

sorry... couldnt find the camera.... got lost in the bench top jungle!!!! found it... more pics tomorrow or today for us on the vampire squad.

plowing, 54K sweet jesus... boy id be a happy camper..... and be in margaritaville, surrounded by bodies touched by the sun ...just trying to keep it between the navigational bouys. my buddy made about 18K with his truck last years 2009 season. my total for the this season so far is about 6K... the bummer about it is we only had about 2/3 good snows this year that we actually got called out on. i was going to head to washington dc with a couple of trucks but the guy overseeing the deal couldnt/wouldnt guarantee anything or penny up for fuel. i kinda look at the take from plowing as "jeep money" and allow myself to do the stuff i wouldnt do otherwise.

okay so researched the atlas and talked with the cats at tom woods. think im all set for options and specs.

savvy/gerald is working on pricing for the racelines.

emailed a guy on ebay whos showing favorable pricing on some 38.5 maxxis CC but isnt listing a 40 so ill wait to see what he comes back with...if anything.

matt from solid is working up a price on the specs i sent him.

i will say this much... i ordered the lift kit to cut down on the build time blah blah blah and gain some features. honestly as of right now..
i should have just built it my self and modified what i had. im not really that excited about the overall system as of right now. its the little things that bug the pi$$ out of me. like mounts being off by a few degrees causing the bushings have a pre-loaded crush going on. having 2" of exposed thread in the joint. jig welded structures and components that dont line up. supplied bolts that dont go through brackets or bushing sleeves....3/16s vs 1/4 bracketry, thru frame bolt hole locations, no reference measurements.... if i have to figure it all out anyways, again....little things.

recoil and bennettj.... so hmmmmm.... how are you supposed to fit a 9/16th bolt through a 1/2 hole or even one thats a 32nd too small...... they should just supply you with a 9/16 drill bit seeing that you have to go over darn near every hole and im not talking about the layer of powder coat either.

i did weld the rear bungs in last night, fit the rear lowers in. started on the front. put the d44 back together so i could roll it under the jeep for mock ups.

messed around with the shock hoop placement. as of right now i think i have a good spot. also it work out that i can weld tabs to the hoops and mount the steering bearing supports. im going to end up going hydro. the steering shaft-to clear the header- has to run horizontal along the top/side of the header, then into another ujoint, short shaft to the valve unit.

thinking about taking some 1" tube and spare heims; and making a set of 'coil jigs' to help mock up and then 'set' the front at ride height.

bonus.. the hemi headers have provisions for up stream O2 sensors.

have an active wishlist on poly that could mimic that of my youth when the toys r us, pennys etc christmas catalogs came out........ i keep hearing 'dream on little broomstick cowboy' in my head.

In the end you're going to have a rig I'm going to be seriously jealous of. I'm not sure I'll be jealous of your credit card bills, but still

By the way, one of the things that made my decision about going with the Currie 4" lift is that if and when I decide to go with my own custom suspension, I've already got the arms for it basically. I can lengthen them and keep on trucking. At least, I'm hoping that'll be the case

The Currie arms are adjustable but don't expect to stretch your wheelbase with them. You can send arms back to Currie and they will send you longer ones to your specs but it does cost a little money.

You misunderstood. I'm talking taking a cutter and welder and additional tubing to them to lengthen them for a custom mid-arm or long-arm setup. I'm not talking about lengthening my wheelbase (necessarily) or adjusting them out another inch or two.
