Just get an AEV highline kit if you have issues with tube fenders. I'm running 40's with 4.5" lift and it looks great on my LJ. Looking at the hood while driving is pretty sweet.

Yeah...... BUT.... Can't justify the cost of an aev kit and won't work with my set up anyways cause I'm stretched a few inches in the front. Can't buy a expensive kit like that and then cut it all up to clear the coil overs/towers.

So today I became a zone off-road dealer along with JKS, BDS, fox racing and warn.... Working on rough country right now. That's being a little difficult.

I have been really thinking about this rubi thing. Here's my final decision.

I am going to swap out the custom built axles under my rig for a set of geared and locked 60s out of a ford (drivers side front diff). I Can get a set locally for about 2k. I'm going to keep the bling race lines and 40's on it.

With becoming a fox dealer, makes a big difference in the pricing for coil overs.

I'm just going to build a rock buggy from scratch. /chassis later on this winter. Thinking 6.2 LS th400 atlas 4.3 to my 60's with 5.38's and 43 tsl sx on some h1 bead locks.

I need to order 2 new gel cell batteries for the rubicon... Any recommendations other than the optima red tops I'm about to order? Anything fit the same profile? They have to fit in the dual tray in the rear.

I did look at those. I looked at my mount set up and have reserved myself to having to replace the Optimas I have with new ones. My buddy is goin to see if we can "warranty" out one of them?? Idk.

I am going to fit the fenders on the rubi tomorrow and if I get a minute... Re-work and re-position the stock fuse center. It can longer sit in the stock location. Oh well.

Also a call to tom woods is in order. Going to do a dealer application and then order the high angle drive shafts for the jeep.

I might pull the trigger on some Genright aluminum flares for the rear and then have them TIG welded to the corner armor, then off to paint. Considering the aluminum front fenders for it?

Right now I just want it mobile.

nothing toooo special other than I just ordered [2] new optima red top batteries to replace the junk ones in the rubi.... she will live again ahahahahaaaa! on or before Feb 3rd according to Amazon

I am hoping to get the front brake line system squared away on sunday, maybe order drive shafts on Monday from either woods or reel... anyone have any good suggestions. this kind of drive shaft build is beyond my local guys capability [high angle, extreme slip etc].

I placed my buy in order with Artec the other day, so we are now a legitimate Artec Dealer. : 2thumbsup:

I ordered a bunch of stuff including what I need to build a 4f/4r link suspension system for my buddies TJ. it would be just plain 'not right' if I didn't finish mine before I built his...

everyone says I don't take enough time for myself... this I know. problem is that when I get the rubi done... I know ALL I AM GOING TO WANT TO DO IS WHEEL IT... and that would end up with me neglecting my responsibilities, so its in my best interests not to finish it.

anyone buy that line of sheet....

I try to forget the wife mod... not one of my better ones.

Climbit, I didn't think anyone would....

maybe, just maybe, she will be mobile by the end of next week. might even pay for express shipping if they can have the drive shafts done..

I know there will be a lot of excited people for that.

Heres the funniest sheet of it all. I just paid the darn thing off last week. Hows that work?

heres the deal on the optimas.... they used to be a freaking awesome battery. Johnson control owned then for along time. then I am pretty sure they sold the line after moving the plant to mexico a few years back. from what I have gathered is that the new optimas are pretty much ok, but not as good as before. there are a lot of new offerings in AGM and GEL series batteries available now, that weren't then.

for me, truth is, it was strictly an application based decision to buy new ones this time. first they are mounted inside my jeep so I have to run some kinda of agm or gel style. next and this is key, I originally installed a dual 'optima' battery mount that is bolted to the tub behind the seat... so to change to different batteries- I would have to change mounts, thus I would have to drop my tank again, remove the mount then spend more $ on a new mount.. that would be specifically designed for 'X' series batteries. just didn't want to back track and spend more right now with the other things I need to get her finished.... so yep- 2 red top replacements ordered.

why red tops... not much difference in specs than yellows- and you guessed it.. cheaper!
