lol the winch thing had me confused. You go from overbuilding everything to buying an ATV winch

hey.. i first had the 1500 series in the cart and then canceled it and went with the 2500 series..... he said overbuilding..... i dont like sitting in the pass seat with my jeep sitting broken on the trailer.

i had to take a minute and walk away from the rubi and work on the leftover. the leftover is therapy for the rubi project. everything is just bot on.. kinda.

while im going about it... im thinking about the rubi in a positive manner.. not a ' you stinkin POS' followed by a ' WTF.. come on...." so its all good.

we started getting the leftover LJ together today and rummaging through the shelves and storage trailer. found the rear bumper/frame plate dual battery tray etc... i was screwing around with the cage on it s well seeing if i liked certain bars/angles... then ginuea pigging it before i do it to my cage....

when i put the stretch corners on, my sliders are obviously be too short. so.. i can 'extend them' or pull them off.... throw them on the leftover and get new sliders for the rubi. if i got a set of wheel lip to wheel lip, the rears 'appear' that they would essentially line up with the stretch corner flare-they are approx 3-4" longer. the fronts- i would have to trim to my personal preference.

my little $70, 3000lb, ATV, harbor freight wench gets the job done.

it really struggles but its never got stuck or not ben able to get me up a hill.

but then agen. i wouldn't rely on it to get me un stuck if i ever went any ware that i might needed to wench out lol.

no seriously... the atv winch is just for the front axle.... i have a warn 8000 on the bumper.. this aint husler... you have to read to get the whole story.. not just look at the pics... well sometimes....

If a $70 Harbor Freight winch got you un-stuck one time then you got your moneys worth, I'm honestly shocked that it did anything other then make a noise. You couldn't have been stuck that bad lol.

What were talking about here, is a small ATV winch mounted on the frame of the jeep, and connecting the line to the axle. When going up a very steep hill your jeep will want to fall backwards, if you winch the front end down, compressing the front springs, lowering the front end then it's less likely to fall backwards.

its a good thing im working all weekend... still no axle... parts issue from a secondary vendor.

as i sat there earlier staring at the front of the jeep... scheming and whatnot with a big piece of steel by my feet. i began to consider the necessity and 'pros and cons' of lowering the anti rock and mounting it under the frame. that would lower it approx 3-4" by the eyeball measuring tape. with the new axle set up i have to change the arm lengths and mounting point on the axle of course, but what i was looking at was the 'at rest angle' of the antirock. i think i have to move it forward anyways do to the stretch unless i use 'stiffer' holes.

oh well... off to summit and ballistics websites for more trinkets. yippie. jeep time is out for tomorrow -were slammed at the shop with cop cars. im hoping for mad jeep progress next week.

recoil.. just doesnt look like im going to make the sept 11 run. bummer.

would moving it underneath the frame change the geometry? I kinda like that idea, then at least you wouldn't see it on top of the bumper...... thats the one thing that has kept me from doing an antirock on my XJ, its too much like a math problem. that and I don't wheel where its necessary... yet.

yes thats kinda what i need to do. the anti rocks run thru the front frame crossmember on the jeeps [tj/lj] with the stretch, new LA design and axle---- everything changes. i only have so many ways and spots to mount tabs to the axle for the AR. both up and down travel has changed as well. i dont want to have suuuper long links. the susp will have 13-13.5" true travel. the AR should be at a 10-15* upward angle at rest. so many factors to make it work right. if your links are too long and or its not set up properly, and you full flex, you run the possibility of [a] limiting travel and flex [b] potentially over rotating the AR and creating mad problems.

all this and i still need the stupid track bar insert....

picked up some angle and handful clamps to help line up the extentions. i have to set the bumper on 'stock' and see what my clearances are and what truely has to happen. need to make a decision on what to do with the AR while im there. id really like to hide the ATV winch behind the bumper and stock front frame crossmember. as long as my front bumper doesnt stick out like a cow catcher ill be happy. i really dont think im going to have to add anymore that 4" and gusset the hell out of it. ill post when i get to it.

as far as the AR goes, i can just weld and gusset a tube under and across the front frame. i can get the bushings from currie for a JK/UNIV mount for a few bucks. hmmmm

well seeing that i havent updated this for awhile and the doctor told me to take it easy, figured id take a minute here and then surf for awhile.

yeah spent last night in the hospital.. that sucked. but im not dying.. yay. i can still jeep.

so didnt get anything done on the rubi in the last few work sessions. that sucks more than anything else. hoping for my axle here either tomorrow or monday. really need that like yesterday. looking for the correct tube insert for the track bar so i can cycle everything and burn it all in. i have been looking at the daystar 'stinger' bumpstops. they look tough enough and 1/2 the cost of air bumps. its either those or something likethe rockrawler ones.

nobody around here thsat i know of has corbeau seats. id like to sit in the different versions before i drop the cash on them. bummer

come on... jeeps are pretty high on the list....

my baby is still just sittin under wraps... spent some time doing EASY stuff on the LJ. then said WTF, the weather was nice enough and cooled down so i bought a new electric fans for the old mustang and took it out for awhile. that has been enjoyable. that vehicle has the 'turn the key and hold' on mod. and YES i 4 linked that too.... haha
