Here is a photo of the Halogen backup lights I was using in the stock housings. It turns out they are actually 50 watt bulbs.
![]() Here is a pic with the 50 watt halogen bulbs. ![]() Here is a pic with the 1156 bulbs. 12.8 volts, 2.1 amps, 27 watts each. ![]() The halogen bulbs do provide a little more visibilty in the rear, but not enough to make it worth putting them in the stock housings. I am convinced the fog lights in the rear are going to be more advantageous. I will be getting some soon. There are a couple more photos of the brighter bulbs and the stock bulbs in the stock housings in my signature.

No lights - where to start
Hey BFR, I am doing a similar setup with the factory switch. I have no lights, can you help?
Differences in my wiring: No connection to dimmer signal off post one Post three is connected to an empty 10a slot in the fuse box Not tying into the 12v reverse signal (consider this fog manual lights for the rear) Anyone else got an idea of where I went wrong? |

Oman Jeep,
I take it your tail lights are for exports only too; right?

Got lights - too many now
Hey, thanks for all your help. My lights now work on command with one exception. The indicator light on the switch is always on. Not sure what is causing this. I have wired pins 2, 3 and 4 per your diagram. I have jumped off the fuse box using the open unswitched port.
I have also tried wiring directly from the battery to the switch and get the same results - controllable lights but the status indicator is always lit. Any suggestions? |

make sure you have the pin numbering correct (I didn't the first time I tried to put it together) the switch should work if you supply 12v to pin 3 and connect pin 2 to your relay (I would not try to power the lights using only the switch) the ground shouldn't be necessary unless you want the little foglight logo to light up

I installed mine to run independently and via the reverse gear as well. I am using an ARB locker switch in my bezel for it and it works fine. One light is always on when the dash lights are on (I guess so I can find it in the dark
) and the main indicator comes on when I turn the switch on. The far right switch is the back lights. I haven't put labels on yet. ![]() ![]() ![]() I ran a wire with fuse from the plugs behind the passenger rear light and to the relay that controls those lights. When reverse is engaged, they come on just fine. That portion of the circuit is never on more than about 15 seconds or so.

i'm doing the exact same thing to my 97. i'm tapping into the blue/black wire which runs along the driver side and into the monster connector.

Switch the wires on the switch itself. You have the contant backwards. I just did the same install and had the same result until I switched them.
