5.3L Vortec and 4L60E swap!!

Well here we go. I started my swap today. I got the 4.0L and ax-15 ready to pull tomorrow....4.0L and more for sale...check my thread on that. Here are some pictures

I would LOVE to have a 5.3 in my Jeep. That is one of the best modern engines out there. Keep us posted on how it works out for ya!

good luck with it. I would plan on removing the winch front buper and inner fenders, working around them will be 10 times more work than removing them. I wish I had removed my fenders when I did my swap.

Hey....I talked to you thru youtube awhile back about your swap..well here it goes. The hood vents i just put in yesterday...they are sweet..got them from genright. heres the link http://www.genright.com/ProductInfo....uctid=LVR-1009

yah the install was easy..just cut out the holes and rivet them in.

what did you guys do about fuel pressure..the 5.3 wants 55psi min and the jeeps pump only puts out 45psi..

could put in an inline fuel pump somewere on the frame rail, that way it would be easy to change if it burnt up or something

I switched in the 05 pump and tank, I think the pump alone would work though, it looked the same as my 03

What is different about the 05 tank? also i have to run a return fuel line because the 5.3 has a fuel regulator at the rail and send the unused fuel back to the tank...do the newer jeeps use a return system...is that why you used the 05 tank?

the 05 tank gets rid of the return line, it changes the evap system to the newer NVLD which is the same as the 1500 ram. you wont need the tank for yours. I think the 05 pump runs at 58 psi at the injectors

It gets rid of the return line??? mine is a 97 and it dosn't have a return...Is there any year tj that did have a return.? if so i should get that tank
