nice work! looks great cleaned up ... i'm really interested in some video!! wanna hear that thing when its done!!!
My stock motor was toast, thanx to a stuck thermostat ( AT 70K miles !!! ).

I do still have all the stuff from the 4.0L that I can sell, so I will get a bit back...

Aside from cleaning everything up, I just got some of the parts, and I'm actully still waiting on some of them...

I gotta bring some card board home to trace the mounts. Hope to have the mounts built by next Tuesday. I've got a B-party for one of the kids, and UFC 91 this Saturday.

Hoping the balencer will be here before Saturday. My buddies bringing his plasma cutter over to cut the old mounts out when I'm ready to build the mounts. I have a plasma cutter at work, but they don't really like it when I borrow $1600 tools for the weekend

Got the starter yesturday, and the water pump today. I ordered the stock 302 motor mounts today. We are going to adaptor them to a bracket I plan to build off the TJ frame. My buddies is going to help, he put a 454 in a CJ5 two years ago, so I'm sure we shouldn't have too many issues.

472 you need to post some videos on youtube. There's like 10 LSx powered jeeps, but no 5.0L ford ones.

Alternator just got here

Ahhh, that's weaksauce !!! V8 power, lock'n ruby axles, I bet that sux

I'm going to do a tight shimmed exploder 8.8/SYE and an ARP locker up front after the 5.0 swap... Then.... I'll poke around for some M/Ts, but I like my Maaxis A/Ts for now. Maybe a winch and more light since I'll have a respectable alternator now...

Skittle, what alternator did you go with? I am putting an electric fan in my TJ along with a Griffin radiator in preparation for a 5.0L swap (and because my stock radiator was leaking anyway). With the electric fan pulling 9amps and five KC lights on top of that, I'm thinking an upgraded alternator wouldn't hurt.

Oh, and what do you guys think about a 9" to go along with this swap? I already have 4.56's and 35's and I think it'd be pretty cool to have a lower ratio carrier for street driving but be able to swap in a 4.56 carrier for offroad. This is my daily driver, which is why it's a concern.

factory 94-95 mustang alternator 135 amps and kits out there to easily convert it to 200a. Suppose to be a great alternator for winching and stuff as it put out good amps at low rpms

Yea, that's what I got. The 135A. If you look on ebay, there is an upgrade kit for like 220A to the same alternator. Says it puts out like 130A at 1200rpms.

Looks at pics 29-32.

Got the motor in. Man, its REALLY tight. I think I'm going to build solid mounts. Amos, I can't see you haven't ran into problems with the A/C compressor hitting or the alternator bracket, or the headers, or the pass. valve cover...

Amos how long did it take you to do this swap ? I assembled the motor today, and dropped it in ( bolted to the bell ), but besides that, I'm wiped. And for the first time with any of my projects, someone actully came over and helpped !!!

I alread beat in the fire wall at the pinch welds like you said, I'm going to have to beat the fire wall in where the pass. valve cover sides too.

I would have taken more pics, but #1 I'm still using the same AA batteries that were dead a long time ago, I just hook the car charger up to them for a few seconds, hahaha. #2 These pics were actully taken in the 100% darkness. My Nikon camera hates my garage lighting, and I can't take pics without them looking all blurry, unless I kill all the lights, and put the camera in "night mode".

Amos, I wish you had a video or something, I wanna see that thing for every angle possible. If you had not already done this swap with a SN95, I'd say it basiclly doesn't fit. But I'm not giving up yet...

Thanks for the alternator info, that def sounds like the way to go. That looks like a tight fit in there, I was thinking it would be a little roomier, but I was thinking more in terms of length instead of width. If you were to fab your own motor mounts would it be possible to move the engine/transmission/transfer case forward? I know it would be a lot more work, but the 5.0L would be over the front axle more like the 4.0L, providing more traction. Or am I thinking of this wrong because of weight and balance/center of gravity. Sorry, I over think things sometimes. Either way I am beginning to realize I should have another vehicle to drive because there are a lot of little things you have to do for this swap and Murphy's law always rules.
