4wd wont engage

Hey all, first post here!

I took the jeep out in the snow this morning on the way to work, but the 4wd will not engage. When the lever is put in 4hi, it stays in RWD, and when the lever goes into 4lo, the drive ratios change, but I dont think the front wheels are engaged.

I did a search on the forums, but without being able to search on 3 letter names (4wd), I couldn't find anything. Im sure a bunch of people have run into this, any suggesstions?

Thanks!

are you out of gear when shifting into 4-wheel? i find that its easy to engage when not in gear for 4-lo, 4-hi should -=-=-=-=f whenever under 50 mph

Yeah, scratch my post. Its my first time in the jeep in the snow. I took it to a parking lot to test things out in reverse. Turns out the lamp is blown, and the 4wd is working OK. Its just that the stock tires STINK in the snow (and they have 60k on them!).

Time for new tires!

Thanks again,

Scott L.

Yeah, I was looking at the Bridgestone AT Revos - any thoughts on those?

While I'm not a die hard fan of the factory GSA's on the wrangler, I think its funny how many jeep owners think they are the devil. Since I've purchased my wrangler, I've had no problems in snow or rain with the GSA's. I will eventually go BFG AT though.

Nah, it has nothing to do with thinking the jeep is the shiznizzle in the snow or anything, but my Murano is better in the snow than the jeep with the stock tires. I think the fact that they have 60k on them (although they still have legal treadwear left) is not helping the situation.
