you will have a hard time getting a 427 stroker out of a 5.0, all the kits I have seen listed are for the 351w (5.8) blocks. It'd make a hell of a motor though. Some AFR or Twisted wedge heads, custom cam and the right carb and intake set-up and you'd have 650+ hp on pump gas (seen it done many times on mustang forums)

Depends on how built the 5.0 is and how built the LS2 is and then the gears in axles, tires, driver, tranny, etc.

Guys, 427cid is the name of the member.
Hes saying the 427cid's 5.0 ford, vs. Curlee's 6.0 LS2. Curlee all the way. |

Hmmm IDK, I don't remember what gear setup Curlee has, but right now 472 is on 4:10 gears with 31" tires, Curlee's rig has much bigger tires and taller (more air resistance). Plus 472 has had zero problems with his swap, Curlee has been having reliability issues. Curlee would probably still win, but give 472 another $1000 bucks to throw at his 5.0 you might have a different story (I figure thats only fair, he only spent like a thousand bucks to begin with, Curlee spent like 12 times that!)
Okay I gotta admit, I'm a little biased since I'm friends with 472cid ![]() |

I love my ford and all but i would have to say the ls2 would take my 5.0 but you are comparing a 94 5.0 to 2005 6.0 liter and he just stroked it to i dont know what. I am in amazed at curlees build but i have a 1/8 of what he put in his jeep into mine and where i think i would get him is if i kept challenging him till he broke but overall he would have so many wins my one wouldnt count. Now give me more cash (3000-4000) to play with and i think we could be looking at a dead chevy. I do have some things in my favor as stated i sit lower with 31s and 4.10s so less wind and rolling resistance. An ax15 will shift alot faster than any nv4500 i have seen but he has alot more horespower and torque and that is ultamitely what would win. My swap is meant as a budget swap and his is a no budget swap.

DItto. I was set on a 6.0L truck motor LQ4 swap before I settled for the 5.0 due to cost issues. Motor vs motor, the LSx motor is the greatest small block engine ever made peroid, if you don't believe that, then your crazy or brand biase. If might take me 6 months or a year, but I get bored quick, we've already been talking about a budget turbocharger for the 5.0L in my jeep. But I'd gear it torward diesal fast spool-up and RPM, not like most turbo V8s which favor horsepower/RPM over spool-up and torque. My SRT4 neon made 407Whp and 505TQ, so... I'm pretty sure I could get a 302 to make around 340whp and 460Wtq @ fairly close to idle. My jeep would loose to both though.... 3:07 gears and 36'' tall tires ![]() I'm currently at $1600 TOTAL from start to finished ( almost ). And that's all new everything for the motor ( water pump, oil pump, alternator, starter, seals, gaskets, adapter, clutch, etc etc ). The 6.0L I was going to buy was going to cost me $1500 before I even bought an adapter and/or any of the swap parts. Now.... A 5.0L turbo vs a stock LS2, we'd have a race !!!!
