Super late reply here, but here's what I found out after contacting Rough Country:

Evidently their 2.2 shocks (the silver upgrade ones, not the standar white ones) have bump stops on the shocks, which they say makes bumpstops unnecessary. So far, so good.

any respectable shock manufacturer includes bumpstop inside the shock. they protect the shock, thats it. you don't use them instead of main bumpstops because the shock mounts will NOT hold the stress of the entire Jeep's weight plus gravity bashing into the shock mount repeatedly. Thats why shocks start leaking after you repeated beat on them with bottoming out, and eventually the bars pins break or the shock mount rips off the axle.




RC is well known for incompetence in this matter.

The stops are not inside. The shock in your pic is not representative of the 2.2 RC shocks. There's a big chunk of rubber on the shaft. I'm making no claims as to its effectiveness, just noting it's existence, and that I've had no issues.
