4 inch Suspension Lift 2 inch body = Slip Yoke/Driveshaft?
If I do a 4" Skyjacker suspension lift and a 2" body lift will I need a slip yoke eleminator/rear driveshaft?
Skyjacker says it will be unnecessary with the there suspension lift but does body lift matter? Does a body lift make the slip yoke/driveshaft come into play? It will be going on a 01' Wrangler SE 2.5L. Preferably with 36's.

body lift does not affect suspension angles, but 4" may require
a SYE or at least a few washers to drop the t-case. Or a MML would help if you get the vibes. Every jeep is a little different when it comes to vibes with lift. You will need to consider a tcase shifter bracket if one does not come with your kit. HTH

I am at about 3"s of suspension lift. I have a 1" MML and have my T-case dropped about 1/2" and still have some vibes. I have a D44 5 speed which is more prone to vibes though. You "should" be ok with either a 2" T-case drop or a 1" and a 1" motor mount lift.
However, if you are planning on running 36s on a D35, I would worry about that first. -Eli |

you should at least put in a super kit - or look at an upgrade axle. Unless of course this will be a 'street jeep' where looks are all that counts. Plus you will be looking at a gearing upgrade

I have 4.5" and yes, I needed a SYE and C/V Driveshaft. In my opinion they make all the difference in the world. Other not often mentioned side effects are decreased power and gas mileage, both of these will suffer without a SYE.
I agree with Mcgawb, 36's are allot of rubber for this set up, I personally wouldn't suggest it. Some 32's or maybe 33s would be your best bet.

I have a 4.0 with a auto and I'm only runing 33's and I still broke a axle shaft a few weeks ago. I have yukon shafts and a detroit in my 35. It would suck to drive 36's on street with a 2.5L. Mike

yellowtj is right i have 35x15.50 sx's on my yj with a 2.5l, no gears yet until the new axle goes in and it is fine around town, but getting up past 2nd gear is a pain and i can only hit about 55mph on the highway, and thats using 3rd gear and then once up to speed i can put it in 4th (my highway gear). I would not recomend that big of tire with no gears.

I have 4 inch skyjacker, and 1 inch spacer under the tranny so i dont need SYE. saves me a lot of money. But Like the others are saying, please consider doing maybe a 3.5 inch lift with 33 inch tires. 36 inch tires are gunna break you jeep.

did it ever occur to you guys he may upgrade the rear axle? why cant people just answer the question at hand and not go off topic complaining about other stuff, hell i suprised we made it 9 post and noone said "dont do a 2" BL they ugly and unsafe blah blah"
OP as stated the BL will not effect the driveline, you could have a 8" BL and not need to touch the driveline (would have lots of other issues but thats another thread) chances are the 4" lift alone will net you the need for a SYE but you could get by with a TC drop, i did till i put my SYE in. and before someone says it, you DO NOT need a MML for the BL, i ran a BL for years without a MML. and just cause i can here is 4" suspension with 2" BL and 33s both with and with out fenders ![]() ![]()

What are you on about? His question was answered in the first 2 replies (back in 2003...) before anyone "went off topic"... If I stated that I was going to do something that others thought might be silly, I would sure be happy if people gave me advice about it after answering my original question, which is what happened....
