4.3 in 97 tj

ok guys this is my first jeep so im kinda knew to the jeep thing. i have a 04 grand but not a real jeep. but today i picked up a 97 tj for a extremly good deal. the guy thought it was stolen but the guy that was workin on it jus dropped off the map and left it at his shop then police recovered it and the guy jus lost intrest. im pickin it up monday. my boss had it before so its not sight unseen. but its apart right now. its a 97 tj with 4.5 inchs 35s white when i get it ill post pics. hte odd ball is it was a 4cyl but now is in the process of a 4.3 swap. he has all the mounts, painless wiring harness, and a reprogramed ecu. has anyone on here swapped one into a tj? is it the same as a yj? let me know what yal think thanks

Not a popular swap at all for a TJ. What everyone will tell you is if your gonna swap motors, you might as well go V*. That being said,if you have the parts for it, use the 4.3.

Essentially it is just like swapping in a small block Chev, since the 4.3 is 75% of one...

You didn't mention a transmission, but the Ax5 won't hold up to the 4.3.

That's not a popular swap because it's no more powerful (and less in most cases) than a 4.0 I6 - but the good news is you hotrod the 4.3 quite easily. I've seen them putting out 500+ horsepower!
