looking at kilbys site and it says if you have the 4.0l and a/c you need to go to a aftermarket intake tube. is this true or is there a way around this?

Not in my case, which is the only reason I'm no longer running my stock air intake box. The York compressor takes up part of the room normally occupied by the factory air intake box.

I have a 4.0L and A/C and I have a york. I had to remove the stock air box and I use a K&N coffee tin shaped filter. It wasn't doing a good job so I added a prefilter to it.

A/C with a York
Hey, I know it can be done... it depends on the year of the Jeep though, like mine for example, you can keep it (I have a 2000). I'm not sure how much different it would be on a 97... could always swap brackets with a 2000

http://www.stu-offroad.com/index.shtml Or you can take a look at www.rockcrawler.com In the technical section is a write up of how to add a K & N filter. I used this as my go by six years ago and it is still working good.

I've got an 04 automatic with A/C and a York compressor and I was able to keep the stock air box.
