4.0l auto transmission/Tcase in 2.5l

Hi sorry first post here and I tried to do some research on this but couldn't find and exact answer.

1997 2.5l 5speed manual

I was wondering first of all if the Tcase from the 4.0l auto will bolt right up to my ax5 2.5l. I also have the option to buy the transmission and Tcase together so would it be easier to change the transmission and Tcase together?? The Tcase is shattered in pieces so that needs to be replaced either way so any suggestions would be helpful. I can get the transmission and Tcase locally for $200.

Thanks
Johnny

Will not work, they look close but the 2.5 is smaller and the tc has a different spline count. You'll need a 2.5 auto and tc. I bought a 2.5 for my 4.0 off craigs list after the seller swore it was out of a 4.0....

To bad you don't live closer I'd make you a great deal on a 2.5 tranny and tc....

you could swap the input shaft in the tcase, and it would bolt up fine. they are the same case.
4cyl is 21 spline, 6cyl is 23 spline. splitting the caser is not hard to do. might wanna put in an sye while its apart.
its possible your old 21 spline shaft in you old case was not damaged. it would go in your new 23 spline case easily.

check daveys jeeps, pirate4x4, gl4x4, craigslist, and on here to find a 21 spline case.
