Very nice build - looks guuuud!

I have similar things planned and have ordered 90% it. I want to stay a little lower but then I only plan to run 35s and keep my d30 & d44. I have a pretty good idea of what you have spent on parts and cringe to think what that labor cost was - I am trying to do most of the work myself (other than the re-gearing, painting, OTK steering and axle trusses). I am also going with tube fenders and corners but from TnT. Yours really look good - I especially like the way the corner fenders slope - TnTs are flat. Like you, I got pretty excited when I saw how Gunkel did his LED turn signals. Here is a link incase anyone wants to check it out: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/tube-fenders-leds-308760/

I just hope I can do something similar with the TnT fenders. I am still waiting for everything to show up.

Again, great build & thread!

Now rear corners and 6" flares. So the flares are angled, which is nice and as Gen-Right states on their website, reflects a vision of the stock fenders. Are they truly 6"? No, maybe if you stretched them out horizontally, but with the angle its more like 5.5" or a little less which suits me just fine, they give ample coverage an plus I like the look of the rubber sticking out. I run 35"x12.5" tires on 16"x10" wheels with 1.25" wheel spacers on all 4 corners.

Here is a look down the long axis of the driver side, you also get a sense of how stout these corners and flares are

I chose to not weld the corners, nor the flares to the corners themselves at this time. I bolted, cause first, I like the look of a bolt on, and next year is stretch time so the flares will need to be cut and flares cut and re-angled and moved to acommodate the larger tire/wheel combo.

Before:

After:

In the above picture you can see where the corner was bolted as well as where the flare was bolted. I pounded on these corners with a mallet and allow me to tell you they resist all. Nicely done Gen-Right, me likes!

Also notice the nice black tub liner that was lightly sprayed on the inside of the wheel wells. I had no interest in re-installing the useless well liners that are stock. This looks better, will resist better and makes more sense. I think it also cleans up the lines underneath when ya look at it.

The passenger side rear corner flare was bumping on the fuel filler ring, so it needed to be cut. Now that all is painted, its hardly noticeable in my opinion.

During mock up:

After:

more to come.....

Thanks my friend.

Ya the Viking top is more than worth the expense, I put that pic in this thread cause I like how far back it comes (not stopping at the end of the doors) in bikini mode. It's really simple to install once you've done it a couple of times. The key for me was installing it completely and even though the weather was nice I did not remove it for 4 or 5 days. Which allowed the top to take form, especially the front edge that slips into the Bestop header. All the folds came out of it, etc. I can't imagine trying to install it over roll bar padding however cause it was super tight with no padding, but some have done it. The one issue was the buckles, they are plastic and don't take well to being tightened down harshly. It should have come with metal buckles. I realize the instructions warn about this point, however, at the price point I think metal buckles would make sense.

So let's move on to the Gen-Right sliders with steps if ya don't mind.

I like these slider a lot. They come powder coated so that makes life a little easier and saves some time. I purchased the one with the dimple pattern steps cause it gives a little traction when getting in, not necessarily for myself being that I'm 6'5" but possibly for the shorter people in my life.

The biggest issue that arose with these sliders is their fit. Not in respect to how the sliders mate up with the other Gen-Right armor I have installed, but rather in length to the stock vehicle. These are not the stretch version, so that was not the issue.

I believe these units are made to fit with stock front fender flares. Because if you look back to the early pages of this thread, you will notice that there is a 1/8" gap between the slider front edge and the tube fender flare at the bottom edge.

Also, the rear edge of the sliders, which tuck under the rear fender flare had to be cut by a good 3" to snug up to the corner edge nicely.

They wrap under the tub nicely and offer a fair amount of protection on the underside which is nice. They are a solid unit and the construction is equal to the rest of the armor on my rig.

When you look down the long axis of the jeep, the width of the sliders match up very nicely with the rear flares and the front tube fender flares. This might not be important to everyone, but it is to me, symmetry is good!

So the front tube fender. Well they look great, they are stout and tough enough to last for a long time. Now that they are painted, the double bevel no longer bothers me, plus with the LED lights in place, they just look plain sweet.

Front end before:

And of course now:

Ya I don't think there can be any argument on which is nicer and more practical once off road. Pictures definitely don't do justice to how much room is between the fender and the tire, it's truly massive.

Driver side:

Passenger side:

Due to the bevels on the tube fenders the front turn signal LED lights do sit on a slight angle to the outside, but its nearly impossible to tell

This pretty much concludes the pictures and the write-up, or at least until I can get the Jeep off-road and get some flex pictures for everybody.

Thanks for taking the time to view this thread, as it is my first, I hope that it was to your liking. Until the next modification, thanks a lot for all the feedback.

I like what you've done and you've given me ideas for what I'm gonna do next to my jeep, damn I wish I had more money right now

one of the things I wanna do is that gen right tire carrier, but I was noticing that it raises up the tire a lot, do you have much trouble seeing out back now?

Thanks man, well if ya look back a few pages where I posted pictures about the tire carrier you will see one shot taken from eyesight level from the front seats and get an idea for yourself. Ya it covers a lot of area.

Good luck with your build

Twitch,
While some might consider this a tasteless question, I still feel compelled to ask. I am a working man with a family, what you did is spectacular but I really would like a ballpark number on what your little journey to Gen-Right set you back financially. I would love to dump money like that into my toy but my priorities do not allow at this time. Humor me and throw me a number.
Regards,
Mag

Well, I will say this it is not cheap. But it depends on how you approach it as well. I went with all Gen-Right cause my 4x4 shop is the Canadian dealer for them and that afforded me a fair discount at the shop end of things. Since I don't have the skills (yet) and the work area (live in a condo) it was a fairly high price for labor. However the shop did knock off about 2 days of labor since it was there first time doing the custom LED work and now they can offer this method to other clients across Canada.

Remember also that all my big purchases like suspension, tires, wheels, and this current venture all go through this one 4x4 shop so they do treat me well.

Either way thanks for the compliments, I will go out and take some pictures of the Gen-Right steering skid cause I forgot to add those pictures in here.

Got the Jeep out onto the RTI Ramp today, we had a Top truck challenge here in Edmonton, they were running a small tire class, 31 to 35", I have no lockers so I couldn't run. But it was nice to see how this suspension would flex and stuff the rubber into these new, more open, Gen-Right fenders.

awesome build. I live down the road from Genright. They treat people good. I have their flares, corners, rockers, steering skid, hood louvers, and more.
