33x14.5r15 vs 37x12.5r15 for mud

33x14.5r15 vs 37x12.5r15 for mud? Should I go for depth or floatation? Which ones shed better?

First of all I can tell you that theres no way in hell you can fit 37's on what you have now lol. But i would say the 33's cause mud tires are all about the width. Not to sure, but the 14.5" wides would look crazy wide.

Difference between 37's and 33 is a lot. 37's break things very easy. Even the difference between 33's and 35's is more than you think. You are running 31's now, your gears probably would barely turn them.

You will have to get new shocks and adjustable uppers for a SYE and a new driveshaft. If you dont already have a SYE you will need that too. Then you will need to buy the spare shafts that you will be breaking if you goto 37's unless you upgrade to a 60. Cause mud is mostly speed in deep pits. Speed + 37's = breakage. Along with extended brakelines, and shock relocators you will want either Curries J-Arm setup or long arms to get a little less angle on the control arms, for a better ride on the road. RE 5.5 springs net about 7 (so iv heard) not sure about RK 5.5 or FT 6 inch springs. 37's will need a rear disk upgrade and steering upgrade. I plan on 37's at some point in the spring. I need to do a lot of upgrades for them. Im thinking about having dynatrac build me a front 44 with hi-steer. You may not need to do all of these upgrades, But to do it right you will need to.

well the shocks I have are designed for any height RE long arm lift. As a matter of fact the whole kit is exactly like the 5.5 minus springs. I already Am SYE'd with Tom woods cv but from what I am reading I would have to have ultra stout drive train for 37's. would y'all say beyond D44s for 37's?

Oh, I probably need to spell out that "Rubicon Express Long Arm" in my signature...

I didnt see the LA at the end of your sig. Iv never seen anyone with a 5.5 with substituted 3.5 inch springs... You must have a nice ride. I also didnt know you could use the same shocks on the 3.5 as the 5.5.

The 37's are pushing the 44 IMHO. But I dont want to go full width yet, and I only want 60's in full width.

24.5/14.5 L/L 26.5/15.50 S/L Front

Same shock dimensions 3.5 through 5.5 because flex is always the same. My 3.5 nets more like 4.5 so I would anticipate the 5.5 to be closer to 7, like you sayed. So clearance is not my issue. It's a hard decision since I have to regear either way. I just don't want to be stuck doing something again because I was not pleased with the height.

Yea, if I was in yuor boat, I would go with 35's and regear to 4.88's and upgrade axle shafts, and be done.

To be honest im not sure. Some people say that you want to float on top and some people say you want to dig down.... I live in mass and there is a mix of both..i will be going with a 37X12.5R15

Go with the 35's they will be alot easier to turn in the mud than the 14.50 wide tires.
