33x12.5 VS 33x10.5 & true 2 in. BB puck

I've searched but can't find info about the BB pucks. I remember reading certain brands are 1.75 with others being 2.25...anybody know the brand names?

Opinions on the 33x10.5 tire size?? pics anybody? No specific brand in mind yet--recommendations? FYI: 3.07 gears, d30 & d35 axles, w/ 3spd auto)

I'm wanting to run my stock Canyon rims with out spacers( heard some horror stories about the spacers). wheeling plans: dd with trail riding once/twice a month.

33x10.50 on stock ravines with a 1.75" BB. Works just fine for me so far.

The goodies are in my sig along w/ a link to my build-up... more pics in there

With 3.07s, you'll be wanting as little rotating weight as possible, so going for a lightish weight 33x10.50 will probably be your best bet.

If you play in mud skinny tires work better as they dig down for the traction instead of float on top and spin for nothing.

I'll also recommend a body lift in the future so you can get more flex from your suspension. I decided to just do a 3" lift the first time and get a BL if I needed it or for more clearance down the road. I'm good as it is

I'm thinking about the same set up on stock ravines with a BB. You had no issues with mounting the 33's on stock rims? No rubbing??

I had 33 x10.50's on stock 7" wide steel wheels for years with no problems.
Recently I put a set of Gamblers on with the same tires. The Gamblers have a little more backspacing than the steel wheels. They were too close to the upper rear spring perchs for my liking so I added spacers.

Yes rubbing. With high back spacing of most any stock rims you'll get some rubbing on the lower control arms during full lock turns, maybe on the anti-sway bar too.

But it's easily taken care of with minimal washers behind the steering stops.

I'm running 33x10.5" on stock 5.5" bs Grizzley wheels and had some rubbing on the LCA which I cured with steering stop washers.

The left rear tire may be too close to the rear spring perch, but that's a function of the lift offsetting the axle to the right. This is easily corrected with a rear trackbar relocation bracket. My left rear 33x10.5 was too close because of my 3" lift, but is now spaced out evenly with an OME bracket. Didn't have to trim the perch.

I'm running 33x12.50s on stock wheels with a 1.5" spacer on each wheel. 3" lit. No rubbing at all.

That being said.. I'd probably go with a 10.50 next time for the sake of reducing the weight to gain a hair of acceleration and they will probably track a little better since they'll fit the wheel better.

When you take into account the cost and performance of a 2" budget Boost and some 33x10.5's it turns out to be a pretty good mod. I did this back in 2002 with my first TJ. A couple of things I recomend. The teraflex budget boost comes with front and rear extended bump stops. You'll need them. I also recomend either a .5" 2nd spacer for the front or another rubber stock spring isolater for the front. That should sit the Jeep up level. I think the wheels I had back then were called ecco's they were a 5 spoke aluminum gray in color. I needed one washer under the steering stops to prevent rubbing.

In the rear the BB shifts the axle to one side just enough to cause concern about the tire hitting the upper coil bucket on one side. You can either add a rear track bar bracket to center the axle, buy an adjustable rear track bar. Or simply grind off the portion of the bucket thats close to the tire.

I remember my first run with that set-up and 33x10.5 TSL radials. There was one other jeep there that had 33x12.5 SSR's and like 5" of lift. I remember him having to winch uo a couple of hills that I had been able to climb.

to the original poster: i've got the 4wheelcustoms bb of 2.25. no rubbing at all for me. then again, i'm running 32's and 3.75bs. good luck with whatever you decide...

i got my 2.25 inch spares and RE monotube shocks from 4wheelcustoms. the spacers were here in a few days but the shocks took longer to get here. the kit was pretty easy to install but a few bolts for the upper shock mounts broke off so that was an annoyance. sorry i can't help you with the tires i'm staying with my 31x10.50's for a while (just got um a month ago). good luck.

also omgsideburns great looking pics...nice jeep!
