33 Engineering Belly Up Compatibility

A buddy of mine is going to be selling his 33 Engineering Belly Up off of his '03 Rubi. I have a 97 TJ and want to buy and install it. However, it seems that there is some sort of difference between the 03-06 and the pre-03 with manual tranny models. Anyone know what this difference is as my stock plate is trashed.

Thanks

The tranny is still stock. That is way easier to explain than all the mods.

I think I read on here somewhere that the bolt spacing is different. Might could redrill it if the price is right. I have one on my 98 and love looking under there and seeing nothing hanging down!

just call 33 engineering. i thought they said it was teh same, but you need to get the high clearence tranny mount for the newer models. if that is the case then it should go right on to your 97. they are good people to talk to. helped me out a couple times.

I might just do that cause the price is super right.

Thanks for the feedback.

Eric, let me know what you do in regards to this.... I have a 33E frame (without the skid) sitting around..... hmmm..... It was an early 2nd gen model and needs a small mod to fit an early TJ, but Ed and I can fab up the skid piece from plate, or you could pony up for the aluminum one.... Either way, needs a little work, but the frame is new.
