33 Engineering Belly Up with an auto?

I'm going to be purchasing the 33 eng. belly up but have an automatic. Has anyone else done this on an automatic that is 03+? I have an 03 and it looks like I need a transmission mount to make the skid fit flat. They make one for the manual but not for automatic that I can see.

I've seen a writeup somewhere for someone who fit it flat with an automatic but I think his was pre 03.

So any help would be appreciated.

Help!?!

You might want to send them an email. I sent one in early December concerning this very thing. This was the reply I got on 11/11/05

I just went through this with them. I have an Auto as well but you need their Auto Transmission mount (which doesn't exist) to justify the cost of skid. Otherwise you gain very little clearance because you have to use spacer without the transmission bracket. Plus by the time you are done buying the Skid kit and Transmission mount you can buy the Nth Degree skid for about the same cost.

Unfortunately there isn't much out there for skids those with automatic transmissions.

I'd look to a Jeep Medic Skid or the Nth. Go-fer-it seems to be lacking in the Auto skid area as well.

Funny - I just talked to Mike on Instant Messenger about the issue. He told me that they have the prototype unit that they are finalizing and should be ready to go in hopefully about a month.

It kinda sucks. I really like their skid design and this is def. the belly up that I want but I was hoping to do it right the first time. I dont mind running the spacers until they have the mount in production if that truly is in a month from now. But if back in November it was a few weeks, what does that mean for a month from now?

I've heard of problems with ORTS and am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt seeing as they are a growing company but I'm really hoping my faith isn't misplaced.

I went through the same decisions. I really like the 2 piece design over that of the N'th and came to the same conclusions. That it was worth it to wait to get what I really wanted. Which was the 33 TT and aluminum plate.
I had planned on getting an auto back in Nov. But after test driving everything I ended up with a 6 speed. Will be putting in my order soon.

Last August when I was looking at their skid they didn't have an Auto mounting bracket and they still don't now. To may knowledge the Automatic transmission mount hasn't changed since 2003, so to me it's been 2 years in the making.

I do mind running a spacer as they charge $25.00 for the spacer, in which case the spacer should be included in the "Skid Plate Kit for automatics". Even if they did that the cost compared to other brands is too much when you consider the amount of clearance you are gaining.

I think for the money and going flat the Nth is the way to go. It is on the expensive side but at least all parts have been tested in the marketplace for sometime now. Heck, I'm doing all my armor/bumpers/skids before I do my lift, partially because I haven't decided on lift but also because it will done right the first time around.
