33 Engineering

I know there has been a lot of buzz about 33 Engineering lately, so I wanted to make a public announcement to let everyone know where we’re at. We were promised by our machine shop (which we subcontract to build our skid plates) that we would have a batch of product ready to pick up and ship late last week. As Friday came and went and they didn’t return our phone calls, we weren’t sure what to think. We found out today finally that the batch that our machine shop had promised us was going to be ready to pick up was not even started because they didn’t have the materials to make them. I want to be very up front about this because I know that we have gotten very behind on shipping skid plates and I feel that people might think that we’re getting ready to go under like some of our competitors have. I want it to be very clear that this is NOT the case, and we are doing just fine. The economy of course has not been kind to any of us, but we are doing everything we can to get this batch of skid plates out to those who have ordered just as soon as possible. We sat down (pretty pissed off) with our machine shop today and let them know that this is their last mess up. They have promised us the batch delivered in two weeks (or less if possible). I appreciate the patience of any of those that this has inconvenienced, and please let me know if there are any questions. I will also be contacting each customer who has a skid plate on backorder at the moment to tell them this information in person, but I wanted to be very up front before any rumors started.

Well, that is really good news because I really think that your Skid Plate product would be perfect for my situation. Yours, and Rokmen's, but Rokmen does not make a Skid yet for a '97-02 TJ.

But, I must say your customer serviced needs a bit of an improvement. A few months ago I e-mailed your company with 4 or 5 detailed questions about your product and never got a response. In this economy, a very interested serious customer like myself should not be ignored.

Should I have called you with my questions instead of e-mailed them?
I'm still very interested in your product, but I'm leary about the service now.

Same thing happened to me. I guess they were just real busy. Not sure what happened?

While I was planning an aluminum skid from you, it seems those aren't happening for the forseeable future, so I'm wondering what the weight difference is between your steel skid and the stock 'shovel'?

Thanks,

Sarge

The skids are worth the wait and I've had excellent customer service from OffroadToyStore. They ALWAYS answer the phone and even went so far as inviting me down to look at my jeep and hear my thoughts on the skid plate. AWESOME COMPANY.

If materials are the issue, please contact me (via PM) and if you can give me a list of what you need, I might have it all in my warehouse ready to ship. If you need laser cutting, high-def plasma cutting, CNC forming, welding - my shop can easily handle it all. We also have a couple of great machine-shops that we work with regularly that probably could handle that work for you too.

I was sent an email on April 2 saying that my skid plate would be shipping over the weekend ... obviously it didn't.

I have not got a phone call as stated above.
I have not received a response to emails asking for a tracking #.

Good at taking orders, not so good with the follow through.

Does any one know what the status is of this? I would like to get a skid but I wont order if they do not have their supplier issue taken care of.

33-1500s and 33-1600s are now back in stock and shipping again without delays. Very sorry for all those that had to wait. We're already starting another batch so we'll have more before this batch runs out. After this batch, we're looking for a new machine shop. For those that posted about their machine shop... I appreciate the offers. We would like to keep production local, but if we decide that there's a way to do it another way I will be contacting you.

Thanks!

Mike

The 33 engineering website (www.offroadtoystore.com) doesn't load for me. Tried it a week ago; failed then too.

Out of business? Hope not, but tough times afoot...
