33 Eng Trany Mount for Flat TC Skid (Pics)

My 33 Engineering transmission mount arrived today.
I got this in order to make more clearance for my flat TC skid. It boast an extra 1.5" of clearance over the stock mount plus a lower exhaust hanger.

Tonight was test fitting as I have not picked up my plate for the flat skid yet. I have already put 2.25" of spacer between my stock trany mount and TC skid, test drove that and it went fine. That even put my TC linkage back inline enough to stay in 4lo. With the addition of this mount I will be able to raise my TC skid 3.75", maybe a little more.

Stock mount.

33 Engineering mount.

Side by Side.

This is where my first complaint about this mount is. The holes to mount it to the transmission are counter sunk, but 33 did not provide flat head bolts, and the stock ones stick down to the point they might be contacting the skid. I measured the holes to buy flat head bolts. I am thinking of using torx head bolts, i know people generally never add more torx to their jeeps but what other options would you all recommend? Other than calling 33 Engineering and saying whats up, which I intend to do. I used calipers to measure the bolts and think I need M10 X 1.5mm pitch X 27mm(25mm?) long. Can anyone confirm this? The instalation instructions say that "counter sunk bolts may be required for clearance. They are not provided because they are not necessary for standard installation with the 33 engineering skid plate." WELL in my opinion they should be for how much this costs!
EIDT: Confriming the bolt size for this. They were indead M10 X 1.50 pitch and I used 30mm flat heads. This was for an 2005 6 speed.

Mounted it looks very good and the exhaust hanger fits well.

Over all I am pretty happy with this mount. It will allow me to have an almost flat skid. One issue I did not for see is my muffler is now going to hang down below my TC skid. I think I will see if I can raise the rear exhaust hanger to compensate for this.
EDIT: My muffler is about level with the skid, it has gotten a few rock scars but isn't damaged.

I also used this as an opportunity to measure the TC skid mounting holes exactly, instead of trying to do it over the stock skid.
Front holes are 34.75" apart
Middle are 37.25"
Rear are 40.375"

Perfect timing for the write up ! My 33 Eng skid and Tranny mount arrived today and will go on this weekend.

As for locating flat head bolts, the easiest way is to take a bolt to the hardware store that fits, find a nut there that fits the bolt, then find the bolt you need that fits the nut.

I didn't open the package yet, but am dissappointed as well that the proper bolts weren't provided. I spent way too much money going 33 ENG to have to run around to HW stores to find bolts.

I will say that 33Eng does have great customer service so far, and rushed my order out and recieved within 3 days, for no extra charge. I was hoping for a forum discount, but not such luck, though they did throw in a set of 5 1/4" speaker conversions in the box for free.

Nice pictures and nice install !

Free speaker plates that was nice. Mine took a bit longer to ship but wasn't too bad. I'm still annoyed about the bolts. Can anyone confirm the size? I would like to try to pick them up today but don't have the jeep with me at work.

I did my 33 mod a few weeks ago. The tranny bracket pushes the muffler up too, leaving about 3/8" of clearance with the above tub mounted heat shield and a good 3/4" above the bottom of the frame rail. The hanger above the axle did accomodate the lift, but a combination of this lift and the shock being moved back by the relocation bracket for the 4" r/c lift puts the pipe in contact with it, rubbing the paint off. Eliminating the rear most hanger and securing the tail closer to the tank skid lessens it, but I'm probably going to end up cutting the pipe upstream from the shock.
When it's all done you think, wow this stuff is crammed pretty tight in the "tunnel" now, but there is enough clearance and haven't had any rubbing/clanking when wheeling. T/c still not leaking, knock on wood.

Is the thing that sticks up on the left side just an exhaust hanger mount?

sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead but i did a little research. the 33 engineering mount looked pretty good but obviously not available anymore. undercover fab just came out with this one Under Cover Fabworks, LLC - UCF LOPRO Transmission Mount ('03-'06 TJ). ordered it yesterday. i'll let u know what i think about it when it's installed. i would def rather go this route than do a body lift to fit a high clearance skid.
