32x10.5x15 on a stock 2.5l TJ with a BB...

Is this tolerable?

I've been waiting forever and ever to get my Jeep more capable off-road, but I really don't know where to start.

Today I was driving behind THREE lifted Jeeps, yes, three. One had some 35" TSLs and a snorkel, another with a buttload of lights and some 33" MT/Rs, and another with some 35" dunlop radial rovers.

I looked like a little girl following them

Anyways, is what I would be happy with are 32x10.5 TSLs (or maybe something a little less aggressive, but still M/Ts) a 2-2.5" lift (maybe OME lift, maybe REBB) and then get some lights and a winch. I think that'd be a good setup for me.

The problem is I don't know if my 4cyl 5 speed with stock gearing would have enough oomph to get out of its own way without ruining my clutch with 32" tires. Offroad it doesn't worry me, as its normally in 4lo when I'm in the tough stuff.

If my 4cyl CANT push 32s without eating my clutch, then I'll have to re-gear, and if I re gear, I'm not going to re-gear lightly, I'd want at least 35s if I re-gear, well to do that I need a big, long arm lift and it ends up costing me 3000$ for everything.

Sorry if I'm confusing, I'm just wondering if my rig could push 32s....

Btw, rubbing isn't a concern as I do have insanely backspaced rims (9.5" wide tires now and they stick out about 2-3")

I deffinatly think 32's will be livable. I have 31's with no problems, and we have hills here!(unlike frorida) My next upgrade is going to be 3" fulltraction and some 32" tsl radials.

If your always in a hurry you'll probably hate it..if your patient person you wont mind it.

4 banger with Kumho 32 x 11.5. Not really that bad, have to down shift up hills. Off road in 4 wheel low no problems.

I had 33x12.50 on my 97 4 cylinder 5 speed for a few months until i drove the tires into the ground and then i didnt have the money to get them again and im running 31x10.50 and both ran fine im my jeep, it was a little sluggish getting up hills, but as you know no matter what the 4 cylinder is sluggish.

My friend runs 32x11.5x15 bfgoodrich m/t's on his 4 cyl the jeep seems to work great with the tires and stock gearing (this is coming from a 6 cyl driver) mind you we werent doing any large hills on road. The only thing that I would be concerned about is that he runs more back spacing on his rims with a 2" RE BB and a 1" BL and he rubs his fenders when he is discoed and flexing hard so I dont know if your thoughts of only running a BB will pan out for you.

I had an 01 SE with a 2"BB amd 32x11.5-15 BFG At KOs and it was fine. You'll need to pull 4th gear on the highway if you're on rolling or hilly terrain but around town, no problem at all.

Plus, you get to look like this:

If you look close, you'll see the homemade 1" tc drop I made to kill the vibes I picked up after the BB.

I have the 4 banger with a 5 speed and 32" Mud Rovers and a 2"BB I was really suprised it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I can still hit 70mph (but it takes a while) But I went from 30's to 32's, I am so glad I did it....

Sorry, but I look at things a bit differently than many others do.

The main concerns to me would be "Am I able to keep up without problems? Am I able to go where I want/need to?" This second question is the really important one. These questions are more important to me than how I "look". Accepting the honest answers to these questions is also frequently a lot cheaper than ignoring them.

I've been running 33x10.50 BFG AT's for a few years with a 4 banger and other than having to stir the gear shift lever a little more often, I have no complaints. Would be nice to have 4.88's, but $1200 buys a lot of gas and I'm in no hurry. Offroad the added ground clearance is very noticable and appreciated. HTH

Well to answer your questions:

No.
No.

I need bigger mud terrains, my 30x9.5 mall terrains aren't getting very far in the rain.

exactly how slow is it?

Thats not what bothers me, though I just don't want to be doing some delicate balancing act with the pedals so I don't stall/grind my clutch away because of my tire size.
