32" tire won't fit on stock carrier.

Ok, I thought I had read on these pages that a 32" tire would fit on a stock carrier. Well I must have misread something because it will not fit. It hits the stock bumper.

So, outside of a rear bumper with carrier what can be done to allow for a 32x11.5r15 tires on the stock carrier and stock bumper.

The only thing i can this of is to modify the stock bracket to raise it some how.

Any ideas.

My 32" spare fit with the stock bumper. In fact, others have sent pictures of their 33's on the stock carrier and bumper.

it depends on the backspacing of the rim.
on the stock TJ rim a 32s will not fit. but with a wheel spacer under it there should be enough space for a 32" tire on the stock rim.

You need a one inch body lift. Then space up the third brake light with washers. I also had to trim some of the plastic with a reciprocating saw and reroute the third brake light wiring.

If a girl can figure it out, Im sure you can too

I was fairly self sufficient in those days, now I have a husband who manages most of my Jeep stuff (We actually met here on JeepForum.)

who needs eharmony? lol. I'm having problem actually with my 33's on stock tire carrier. I'm going to just order a wheel spacer and put on there.

hey

4wheeldrive hardware has some little brackets pretty cheap that allow you to fit like a 35 that go on there

x100 I have 32x11.5R15 BFG ATs (could be the same tire as the OP?) and it fits fine, and the 3rd brake light still fit as well (although it doesn't look like a bigger tire will fit).

I think you're talking about the tire hitting the rubber tailgate stops. The OP's problem is the tire hitting the bumper - it doesn't sound like the OP had any problems mounting the spare on the stock carrier. My wheels have 3.75" BS, and I had to space out my tailgate stops with blocks of wood so the sidewall will hit the stops.

As for actually answering the OP's question, there are two things you can do: 1) The relocators that codymparmy mentioned or 2) a body lift.

My new tires are BFG MTs.

Took the rear bumper off and it fit ok then. The backspacing on my aftermarket steel wheels are almost like the factory wheels.

I'll run it like that until I can get a rear bumper with carrier.

Thanks for the replies.

Not to hijack, but I am about to put 265/75/16 with Moab rims on my Rubicon. Does anyone know if they will fit on the stock carrier??

265/75 is about 31.6", so you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever as far as height goes. Assuming the Moabs are your stock wheels (they come on Rubi's right?), then the tailgate stops should work out fine.
