31" Tires w/ 2" in BB capability
I'm looking to do a 2'' bb w/ 31'' M/T's. I don't plan on going any bigger than this. I stick mainly to trails and small rocks. The Jeep is my DD.
For you guys running this setup: How well do you feel it performs in comparison to other TJ setups? Thanks guys.

i currently have no lift with 32's and although i have little articulation i can still handle plenty of trails and mud. it looks good but dont think it would do too well on rocks

i ran 31's for a while with no lift it rubbed very little on the trails. I installed my 2.5 inch lift an ran the 31's for a while. It flexed great and was awesome on the trails. I no its not exactly what you wanted but 2bb and 31s are great for a daily driver and weekend trail rig. From my experience you'll want to go bigger LOL

I ran that for about 4 months until I decided I wanted 33's. It will do good for you. I just installed a 2" BL and got the 33's. I do trails and rocks and tried almost everything that guys with a 4" lift did. I got hung up more than they did, duh, but I did very well with that setup. I agree that you will want to go bigger also.

Thanks for the info guys. I ask because I don't have any friends with TJ's that wheel, and was looking for some firsthand experience. I would love to have flat fenders, RE 4.5, and 37's but I just don't think it would be possible given my realistic needs, and funds.

I have a 2.25 bb with 31's I like it alot. However, I wish I went with a 3inch lift with a 1"BL with 33's. A BB is great for a newbie and a DD and cheap quick setup. It flex better and rides better than stock and has a more aggressive look. Like others stated, your going to get the disease and wish you went with something bigger
It depends what you want to do with it, if its light trails on the weekends, a BB will be perfect with 31's.. |

I forgot to add that I also had to install a rear track bar relo bracket. I got it from Qudratec for about $20.

I did a BB a year ago with 235/75. I needed bigger tires for aesthetics, but the el cheapo said to wear out the tires. Went to 31x10.5...looks that much more impressive. I have a 3.07 gear set so 5th really took a hit. So did mileage, around 2mpgs for the bigger rubber. It rubs when you get close to steering lock I haven't tested it off road but I did notice my deficient gears during accel...Going to do a 1.25 jks body lift/ mml next. It needs a little more space between fender and tire for looks and a 1 inch BL is less than 200 with MML and no one will frown on raising your body only an inch.
If you ultimately want to go bigger, save your coin for a bigger lift. I'm done after the BL. Its my daily driver on a small two lane road with lots of surprise critters at night. I dont want 35s on a four inch lift so i am happy with my slightly larger than stock TJ B |

I have a 2 inch OME lift with 31 x 10.5. I love it, rides way better than stock and gets me to the fish on the weekends.

I've ran the same trail both stock and w/ a 2.25" budget boost, definitely an improvement. Any lift that brings the bloody tcase skid up is going to benefit you GREATLY!!

To give you an idea of what it looks like, here is my LJ with stock 30X9.50-15s GSAs (top pic) and with 31X10.50-15s BFG ATs (bottom pic). No lift.

I have the 2" BB lift and run 31x 10.50x 15 with no problems. I have the Dunlop Radial Mud Rover tires, and they seem to be doing just fine. You do have to rotate them now and then to get the best mileage from them. No problems in the mud or on the street with this set up. I have 3.73 gears with an automatic.
