31" BFG'S, 1 3/4"coil spacers or 1"BL?
Hey guys, need lots of advice here, am poor student who wants to make the right purchases.
Have stock 2001 TJ. I am putting on 31x10.5 BFG MT KM's in a couple of weeks. I want to put either a 1" performance accessories BL or Daystar 1 3/4" urethane coil spacers. I don't know which lift to get. Will I need longer shocks with the coil spacers? will they give me nasty vibrations? Are there any adavntages over the BL. I also need advice on back spacing. What are the min and max BS I should get if I buy AR-767's. 15x8's only come in a 4" or 4 3/4" BS. Which one will give me min. rubbing?

what about BS?
thanks for the advice, I think I will go with the 1" BL. but what about the most optimal BS. Don't want rubbing on fender or lower control arm. I do want to put on new rims.AR-767's. If I dont put New rims how do I adjust my turn stops?

don't need any lift to run 31s... if you get discos then you MIGHT
(but probably not) rub at full flex. - a 1" spacer lift would fix this and you can install yourself with a buddy - and they are cheap! adjusting the steering stop (if you need it) is a cinch, just turn the wheel all the way to one stop, and look at it - you will see the stop bolt plain as day from the front of the axle...take out put a couple washers and put it back...pretty easy. I think stu olsons site has a write up already. HTH

who to buy from?
Thanks for the advice on the steering stops, I think I will go with the 1"BL and stock rims. I might dish out the cash for AR-767's later. couple more questions though. Is the 4" BS too much, I have rubbing problems at full flex even with the 1" BL? also, I live in Canada and am confused as to which is the best place to buy these parts. I heard 4 wheel parts sucks, lets set the record straight. who is the distributor for parts?

call bob supplee and see if he can ship to you or somebody close
to the border near you. RE makes em, Tera makes an all aluminum set of body spacers that are self centering - I like those myself.

Here's is a detailed description on adjusting steering stops. Its pretty easy. Just go easy on the bolts in order not to break them off.... (That would be bad)

I've got the Daystar spacer lift and like it pretty well. Bought it for $95 off e-Bay. Vibes...no. Easy install...about 3hrs with one other pair of hands and everyday tools. Could do the install again in under 2hrs with the experience we gained. Did I need new shocks...no, but would they be an improvement...definitely. I'm running 31" tires and they work well and look good with the lift and stock wheels. I havn't added washers to my steering stops, although I do plan to...just make sure I don't go full turn and no issues.
My next install is a 1" Daystar body lift and M.O.R.E. torsion motor mount lift. Those two items cost me over $200, more than twice as much as the spacer lift (albiet with no shocks.) If you do a body lift you will need to either move your fan shroud or do a motor mount lift. The motor mount is the better way to go, as it corrects your driveline angle, reducing vibes. The spacer lift gets you extra clearance, the body lift will not. If money is a big issue, I'd do the spacer lift. You gain more advantages with it. But like Owen said, the body lift can stay on your rig forever, and I only plan my spacer lift to be a "get me by" until I'm ready to go bigger. It will be removed at that time.

The spacers can also be used with an aftermarket lift. It will simply give you one more 1" of lift..Most guys use them to correct sag and what not..

bump stops?
once again thanks to all of you for the great advice, you are really helping me with my decisions. If I go with the 1 3/'4 coil spacers do I need the complete kit that includes the extended bump stops or should I just get 4 spacers withou extended bump stops. also, about the shocks, what problems have you encountered and how long do you think the stock shocks will last with the coil spacers. finally and this should be my last question, every one is talking about MML's. I think performance accessories 1" BL comes with radiator drop down brackets, is this not good enough and will I get vibes from the 1"BL?

I get SOME driveline vibes around 30 mph while accelerating, but I will fix that soon. I have the same tires you want, check my site for pics ![]()

I had 31" BFG A/T's without any lift and never had any rubbing whatsoever. Looked good too. I wouldn't worry about it unless you go bigger. Save a few bucks.
