3.73 gears in a 3.07 carrier?

Currently in my 1998 TJ wrangler I have 3.07 gears in my all stock Front Dana 30 and Rear Dana 35 axles. I know someone that has 3.73 gears for sale. Below is his description.

Dana 35 and 30 3.73 ring and pinion gears. These were from 2006 TJ X model from the factory.

Does anyone know if I can just switch out my ring and pinions? Or do I need new carriers? Thanks!

You will need new carriers for them, you have the 3.55 and numerically lower, you'll need the 3.73 and numerically higher carrier. IIRC quadratec has these for around 60 each, you can probably find them much cheaper from many different places. Plan on at least $250 in labor per axle (that was the rate I was quoted at many different shops)
