3.07 Gears

I just bought a 2002 Wrangler and found out it has 3.07 gears. It's a 4.0 and 5 speed. I want to install 31 or 33 inch tires. Should I do it???

You will then have a 4 speed...... with 33s 31s you will be okish.. Not the best set up but the 4.0 is able to torque those tires along.

Ya 33's with 3.07's sucks. You lose 5th gear.

You won't have much of a first gear, either. From a stop it will be a dog. You'll start to really dislike driving your jeep. Don't upgrade your tires until you regear.

I would stick with the 31's I ran My 4.0 TJ for a while with the 3.07 & 31" Tire Combo it's not the best but will do for a while,I can't say I would want to run 33's & 3.07's,I got a sweet deal on a Rear that already has 3.73's & also got a Deal on the stuff to regear the front to 3.73 & it's a fairly decent combo I was going to go with 4.11's but the deal on the 3.73's was too good to pass up.

Stay where you are until you plan it out better. Going to a bad ratio to tire size like that will make you hate that Jeep. I learned the lesson the hard way.

3.07's with 32's was miserable. Liveable, but miserable. I didn't realize just how bad it was until I got 4.56's

I've run 33x10.5's with 3.07 gears for the last 3 years. It's not that bad, 5th is only good for 60mph+ and then a downshift is required for a pass or on inclines. It's not the greatest, but for the street and mild trail riding, I'm fine w/ it.

Obviously you've never had 4.56's.

Everyone that's only had 3.07's says that. Then they change and they won't ever go back.

I have on 03 TJ with 3:07's and a 5spd. I went with 30x9.50-15's and even with the 30's I wish it had 3:73's or 4:10's. When I bought a second set of wheels they had 31's and it was pretty weak with them on.
