2006 wrangler pics

Heres a pick of what the wrangler might look like pretty soon. Found it on tjoffroad.com forum

(car & driver)
Jeep Wrangler
Aside from the 10.0-inch wheelbase stretch that distinguishes the Wrangler Unlimited from the standard vehicle, the quintessential Jeep looks pretty much the same as it did in 1997, the year of its last major makeover. There's good reason for this. To the hard-core faithful, when you say, "There's only one Jeep," this is the Jeep you're talking about, and you mess with it at your peril. Nevertheless, there are persistent hints of some modest cosmetic and functional updates in the near future including: revised door framing, round side mirrors, subtle redefinition of the front bumper with its integrated winch, and headlamps with siamesed turn signals. No hints on possible timing, but our best guess is 2006 as an early '07 model.

It actually doesn't look all that bad. Looks like there is a live axle in the front, which is good. I won't be getting rid of my TJ anytime soon, though...

I'm all for a rescue... it's a full-sized, diesel, dual solid axel idea. It would be quite interesting to see one hot production.

Who really cares anyhow... So basically if one topic was once discussed, then it's a poison topic from then on... Who cares if they did or didn't do a search... If you don't like it, ignore it, go to another thread... Shesh...

No, I just get tired of seeing people post about other people's posts like that... and I'm not in a good mood today... sorry I jumped like that... but it's aggrivating seeing us jump on a new poster like that...

It seems all you see on alot of forums anymore is 'try a search' or 'ohh god, not this again' or something... It's like people expect everyone to have always started on the forum since day 1... I am pretty sure you didn't mean anything by it... And my post was more for the initial poster than you.. Just don't want him thinking he did something wrong and being afraid to post here again.

Besides, we've ALL reposted something at one time or another... No need to jump all over someone about it... All that does is starts issues... I know I've reposted a few times on topics here and there... But so what?!? No need to get rude about it...

Anyways, back to topic. Hrmm the First pic (blue Jeep) looks too much like an H2. The Rescue kinda appears to be a mix between the Wrangler, Liberty, and H2. If I had a choice it would be the body style of the rescue.

JU had a huge thread about that C&D pic... people thinking it was anything from a photochop to a concept we would never see.

Here's what's important for a Wrangler, IMHO:

SFA (I doubt I'll get any argument there)
Convertible (TJ remains the only convertable 4x4 out there)
Cheap (under $22k equipped, under $30 totally loaded)
4 seats
Roll Cage
Capability across the board should be on par with the TJ

Asthetics are going to be a debate...

Now, I know I've said this before, but I don't care if the "repost police" come after me or not. Stick it to 'da man! Fight the oppressors! Power to the people! Keep reposts legal!

You think the first one looks like an H2? really?

(looking at it again...)

I don't see it...

To me, it looks like a full-sized jeep (like the Rescue), but with 2 doors... But, the Rescue is based on a Jeep and Hummer (admitedly by DC).

Actually take a closer look at the first photo:

Look at the passanger front tire.. that's an edited pic.. I'll bet it's a photo-chop of one of the Rescues. Everything about it says 2-door rescue and the bumper is not equal length indicating a chop of some kind... interesting... I wounder how much, if any of that photo is real...

Rescue for comparison:

(weird. some images won't display...)

One more thought:

What we're likely to lose with the next Wrangler, regardless if it looks like this picture:

Fold-down windshield
Removable doors
And we'll gain wheelbase and get lowered, to keep the @&*%$ lawyers at bay.

And, since it's a Jeep, we'll still figure out how to take the doors off and lift the damned thing, anyway.

And I do think we'll see the CRD in a Wrangler by 2006. The question is rather or not it will be a TJ or not.

I'm getting an '05 Rubi while I can...

However it turns out, it will be interesting to see how fast the aftermarket adapts to it...
