2006 Rubicon Unlimited Crank No Start

HI guys,

Wife was driving, vehicle stalled. Brought it home intermittent spark and injector pulse. Changed the crank sensor. Same Thing. Tested the signal on Crank and Cam Sensor with lab scope. Good clean signals. I have intermittent spark and injector pulse. Thinking I have a Bad PCM, anyone run into this problem before? ( 50,000 miles on the engine 4.0l Manual trans Rubicon Unlimited ). Any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

Maybe a potential bad coil pack?
I always tend to start with the cheap stuff.....I would have guessed the two things you checked first also though.....Curious to see how this one turns out..

took the coil pack off my cherokee just to make sure. No Dice. I am going to borrow a buddies scanner as mine is not updated. Hopefully I can command the coils to spark and see if the PCM is good.

Does it have the security light illuminated on the dash (sentry)? Could be that... if yours has it I'd try another coded key first.

I tried my key just to be sure. The key or security light goes off. What happens is the engine will crank and I will get 1 spark for every 5 or six seconds out of each coil pack, when this happens it also pulses the injector once. It almost seems like it cant sync the crank and cam sensor and does not know when to fire the ignition/injectors. I initially thought it would be a bad crank sensor so I changed it. Thought I would post here in case someone else had a similar problem before.

Did you check for any codes?

There was a noise that sounded like a belt noise a couple days prior. I am the second owner. Would the dealership warranty this with 49k original miles. If not is there a permanent fix. This problem makes sense for my symptoms, hopefully my cam is not wiped out. Will an earlier dist ( like the one in my 2001 cherokee send the same type of signal? )

Thanks for the info.

You can try to see if the dealer/Jeep will help you out with part of it. Most likely not since you are out of warranty and not the original owner.

Only the OPDA/Cam Sensor from a '05 - '06 will work. They were backordered recently.
