2006 driveability issue?Flat spot!

I have had my new rubicon for 3 mos now and have noticed a definate flat spot in the throttle from about 1500 to 2000 rpm's ,right where you need it!.I have taken it to the dealer and was told there were no software updates and the comp was probably designed to run that way for emissons reasons.Has anyone else with an '06 come up with this problem or am I the exception? It is bad enough that I can feel myself falling forward when I romp on it at around 1200 to 1500 rpm's for about a second or a second and a half.then it leaps to life and jumps up really well. Thanks in advance,I love this site! So much info and advice,So little time and money!

I have the same problem on my '04... there was a topic a while back on this too, everyone had the same problem. No fix as of yet other than shifting at a higher RPM.

2006 LJ Rubi, 2500 miles. Flat spot most pronounced in 3rd gear. Rig pulls fine from 0 to 1800 rpm, gets stuck in molasses, then recovers at 2500 rpm. Dealer says "nothing wrong". Yea, some friends with a 99 TJ and 2001 XJ don't have this feature...

You don't notice them because it's like driving with one big flatspot.

There you go!

The grinding is normal and I can put up with it, but there really isn't a reason for either 'problem'.

I have the flat spot and grinding gears in my '05 LJ too, but I have noticed that after 7500 miles, the gearing is getting smoother and the flat spot is less pronounced.

My 05 clashes a bit shifting into second, and I to have a flat spot...most noticable in third.

If anyone has a solution I'd be happy to hear it as well. Otherwise, I've learned to live with it.

BTW - Synthetic in the tran is supposed to help with the grind. I see synchro grind mostly on 2-3 shift. I can deal with that...

THe flat spot has been enough that for a while I wondering if my clutch was slipping or something. Everyone says TB spacers and bored TBs are a waste. However, if it helped with this I would actually consider it...

Yea my 06 X with a 6 speed has all the same issues, and yea i thought i was going crazy also when i pushed the gas down heavy o man on ramp and nothing happened then it launched, i relize its a jeep and not ment for speed but i was irked at first. What i do now is just deal with the lag around town and when i am enteringa highway just shift a bit later and the problem is gone, and also the grinding is starting to let up with almost 9 k on the trans.

interesting stuff, guys. i'll check to see if i have a flat spot, too. i do have the grind between 1 & 2, and sometimes between 2 & 3. if i shift really slow, like with the SM465 that i had in my CJ, then i can shift and not grind, but people behind me tend to give me dirty looks as the blow past. any idea as to why the grind exists? also, what is it doing to the tranny? i thought that the 6-speed was supposed to have triple synchros between 1 & 2. weird. glad i'm not the only one, though.

I have a 06 Rubi with the same problem. I was not sure I had a problem because the thing is not a ball of fire anyway.
Good to see I'm not crazy!!!
